S.Gigantea has two mouths!

I ordered a carpet anemone from ReffHotSpot; it arrived 9/23. The water was yellow, with some crud floating in it. After acclimating, it took about 1 hour to attach. That evening, it started to deflate, and was still deflated the next afternoon. I thought it was probably a goner, however, late that evening it began to re-inflate. Today, I noticed it has two mouths! I don't know if it did when it arrived, with the folds and movement in the current I couldn't see the oral disc before.

Here is the anemone, attached to a verticle rock. The yellow spots are where the mouths are, one by the percula's nose, the other below. I apologize for the poor picture quality; this is my first attempt at aquarium photography, and the camera is borrowed.

I do not see any evidence of the foot splitting, but the upper and lower portions are anchored on separate roocks. What do you think, is it going to split? I'll certainly watch witth interest, if it does, I'll keep you updated with photos.

I've heard of gigantea living for years with two mouths. It's usually a normal sized mouth and a much smaller one. From the pics, it looks like yours has two large normal looking mouths.

Please keep us updated. I will really be shocked if this thing splits.

Yes, I had heard of the one large/one small mouth, too; it's the equal sized mouths that got my attention, along with, in retrospect, the shrinkage. It looked to me much the same as a BTA when it splits.

The mouths have become tighter since the photos (5 hours). I see that the oral disc between the mouths appears quite thin; it's nearly transparent, I think I see the mesenterial filaments.
