I ordered a carpet anemone from ReffHotSpot; it arrived 9/23. The water was yellow, with some crud floating in it. After acclimating, it took about 1 hour to attach. That evening, it started to deflate, and was still deflated the next afternoon. I thought it was probably a goner, however, late that evening it began to re-inflate. Today, I noticed it has two mouths! I don't know if it did when it arrived, with the folds and movement in the current I couldn't see the oral disc before.
Here is the anemone, attached to a verticle rock. The yellow spots are where the mouths are, one by the percula's nose, the other below. I apologize for the poor picture quality; this is my first attempt at aquarium photography, and the camera is borrowed.
This shows the upper mouth
here is the lower one:
I do not see any evidence of the foot splitting, but the upper and lower portions are anchored on separate roocks. What do you think, is it going to split? I'll certainly watch witth interest, if it does, I'll keep you updated with photos.
