Saddle Clownfish Death affecting Carpet Anemone??

About five days ago my black saddle clown died after suffering injuries from turf war with my jawfish. After the first night without the clown my blue carpet anemone seemed fine but everyday since it has been shriveled up not expanded as it normally would the mouth is still sealed and it is readily taking food. Could the death of the clown caused this effect? Should I be looking for a replacement? Nothing in the tank has changed except the fish dying off.

Hi, what I can tell you is, I have 3 lrg haddonis that my clownfish pair move from 1 to the other, and very often, the nem they are in is the biggest in the tank like 22" and the nem who has not gotten any attention is the smallest like 8 to 10". If the clowns go over to the smallest nem within a short while it will usually double in size. So to me the nems like the clowns around.
"No scientific research was done for this study" LOL

What other fish/inverts do you have in the tank?
Wondering if something in the tank is now picking at the S. haddoni.

Been keeping S. haddonis for 15+ years now, and have never noticed any difference with they are hosting or not -- excluding when something (( fish or shrimp )) is allowed to pick at one of them because of no clown or even porcelain crab to protect them.

It has been shown, in the wild, the anemones will suffer from predation when no hosted clowns are around for protection.

Yeh put a webcam up to record the tank yesterday caught my flame angel attacking the carpet. I went ahead this morning and got myself another saddle clown who immediately jumped in the carpet and now wont let anyone within a ft of it.

Ok so an update towards the end of last night and into this morning I kept the webcam recording. I have noticed the flame angel is still going after my carpet nem and picking at its individual tentacles the saddle clown is a bit smaller than the angel and is having trouble keeping him away. Is there a chance the flame can kill the nem before the clown is able to fully defend his home? I'm amazed the angel hasnt gotten caught by the nem yet considering how sticky they are.
