safe, toss, or repair?

I recently picked up a used 6100 and it runs great. Unfortunately, the insulating cord right up against the pump is frayed and the wires underneath are exposed. I've got a ground probe on the tank, but this still seems like a bad idea. Is there any way to repair this potential hazard?

The motor block sounds like it should be replaced, but the other parts would be salvagable. Still cheaper than buying another pump

I would replace the motor block, there really is no safe repair. In the long run water can wick down the cord and enter the driver and then it will be expensive to repair.
