Sailfin anthias

A WHOLE LOT OF THESE arrived at my LFS.

at very reasonable prices too.

as far as i know, these Rabaulichthys anthias are rare and it's my first time seeing them here. reported to be skittish, this batch are all extremely healthy and have no problem feeding. greedy as hell and extremely beautiful.

here's a sneak peak at one resting with part of the dorsal fin extended.

if you do a google search on Rabaulichthys, the photos online will show many specimens with fully erected fins.

i believe this species is R. cf. suzukii.

i will update with photos and videos soon. hopefully

Oh Lemon, I am very jealous.

Do you mind me asking what the pricing is on these fish? Also, does it appear as though there are any fully mature males in the group?

~Michael

yes.

about 20 females or more
20 males.

i will PM u the price. shall not disclose here.

the males range from normal males to fully grown males.

the females appear to be of a different species.

i did not buy the females. i got 5 males instead. they are all doing extremely well and eating like pigs. they do not seem to exert any form of aggression even at the LFS, where many are kept together.

oh i'm jealous of the fishes you get in the states too!

in fact i'm more jealous because there's tons of cool stuff that you guys get that we don't

and thanks! its indeed a cool fish.

i've never kept one before and the fish is so rare there are not many accounts in fish tanks. so we'll see how they go!

When I ran a LFS we got them in once with a bali order but the were sent as anthias. We received 3 and sadly didn't last very long and they went right in to the store display tank. I had a few nice pics If I look around I might still have them.

Hi Bret,

what happened to them? did they arrive in bad condition?

AFAIK, the Rabaulichthys anthias have a huge range, with many species spanning many oceans.
