(Darn. I think I missed Mr Holmes-Farley's morning rounds)

I recall in an article by him that he prefers to measure salinity with a digital monitor. I could be wrong...

But I was thinking about purchasing one for ease of use/readability over a refractometer.

Any thoughts on the accuracy of these monitor(handheld) and what brand did you purchased?

Happy Thanksgiving!

The pinpoint has been reliable for the several years I've been using it.

what about the GHL profilux controler with its salinity probe ?

I am thinking about buy one , any one use it , does it work good ?

finally got around to purchasing one of these. Got the pinpoint one instead of the electronic refractometer which I think operate on a different principle.

So far it's been fine. But you have to make sure a pump isn't on close to the probe or the probe's wire back to the unit isn't lying over something like a vortech dry side.

Anywhere near my fluorescent tubes and it's a random number generator. Works perfectly when testing a glass of tank-water on the dining room table though! ;-)
