question:
do you guys ever clean salt water container . i notice some residual on the bottom of my 100g container and wondering if i should clean it somehow.?

Put some mureatic acid ( from Lowes, HD -don't have it) and soak it overnite and rinse in the morning. And your bucket will be virgin.

Sorry forgot to tell U. Concentration 1:10. And be carefull.

And remember to always add the acid to the water when making a dilution.

Eye protection and gloves should be considered the minimal protective gear. If you are sloppy with the pour, it's a good idea to wear disposable/expendable clothes too.

thank you fellas..
i think acid is too dangerous, i prefer vinegar:) definately need to clean my 100g bin, i looked inside and to much brown stuff i see....
what is this , some kinda residual from salt? i ve been using Esv salt and suppost to be be very clean salt--i guess NOT:((

Mranderson do u have more specifics on how you plumbed the two brutes?

I used (2) 3/4" bulkheads from BRS and drilled them on the bottom of the brute cans.

I took 1/2" ply and coated it with acrylic paint, cut out 1" holes for the bulkheads in the ply, and another 1" hole for the 3/4" coming from my Mag5.

I used a 3/4" threaded male and female adapter with an o-ring for the return to the saltwater brute.(I never fill this up to it so there's really no need for the o-ring besides for user error)

just a really simple 2x3 stand underneath(i did this so i could fill buckets easily)

I also used the same 3/4" male/female adapter with o-rings for the bucket drains.(3+ years with this setup and no failures.)

3/4" unions for servicing the pump are a must!

My setup is 5' from a floor drain and the floor is epoxy coated.

I also run a venturi pump in the ro/di can to keep pH up during storage.(I use about 30 gallons every 2 weeks)

Yes if you aren't comfortable with Muriatic, vinegar will work. You still should wear eye protection.

How long has the brown stuff had to accumulate? I've been using ESV and am impressed with how little 'extra' is in it.

CSQ ASW Makeup, CWC and ATO

CSQ ASW Makeup, CWC and ATO

Here's mine, although it's not complete yet as the DT has not yet been delivered.

  • RO/DI - BRS 6 stage with dual 75GPD Filmtek membranes, Aquatronic 8800 boost pump@100PSI, Spectrapure MaxCap and SilicaBuster DI resin. (~340TDS supply, ~2TDS to DI, 0TDS to storage tanks)
  • Saltwater Make-up and storage - 2X200 gallon Norwesco 30X72" tanks, fed and mixed by Waveline DC12000
  • Continous Water Change (CWC) - Cole-Parmer Masterflex w/dual peristaltic pumps. Monitored and managed (pH/Salinity) via an Apex
  • ATO -- Osmolator water sensor using Cole-Parmer peristaltic pump.
  • Kalk -- 40Gal still well fed by ATO peristaltic pump

Continous Water Change (CWC) - Cole-Parmer Masterflex w/dual peristaltic pumps draws from 200 gallon Norwesco 30X72" tank, fed and mixed by Waveline DC12000. 1/2" plumbing to the DT.

More details are in the build thread.

I use a hose reel for my RO tubing. I bought an 11" one off amazon and use it when I need to run the tubing from under my sink to my portable container. Made storing the RO tubing much easier.

Its one that you pickup and can spin with a handle. I have RO hose with valves on each end and then I just spin it and tuck the valves at the end so it stays put. The valves also help in not making any messes when the tubes empty out.

My Station

My Station

I wanted to be able to pump water from any of the barrels into any of the other barrels. This is a work in progress, still need to work out some kinks, and cement everything together. I performed a water test yesterday, and it works great.
