I got 3 of these for $20 a piece from a guy that used them to store pickles and food- Try CL
That's a Liftmaster. I want to put one in my garage. Here's my setup. Top is fresh water which drains into bottom for mixing. Sure makes life much easier.
did u make that metal stand looks great, I need one of those!
Thanks. Yes I welded it up myself.
On a side note. I see people saying not to let mixed saltwater sit for long periods of time unless it is air tight. How about freshly filtered plain RO/DI water. Is it safe for that to sit around awhile before putting into a top off container. Generally I filter around 20 gallons to sit at the ready to be placed in a top off container. What is too long for that to be sitting around in a container that is not completely air tight?
I make up 110 gallons of rodi water each time. 55gallons is transfered to my saltwater tank the other 55 stays in the rodi tank.
I then mix in my salt and i am good to go. With that said the two tanks run low about the same time which is about 3weeks time. I then start the process all over again. Now i do have a pump on the saltwater side that comes on for 10 minutes once an hour to mix. I do not do anything on the rodi side. Both have screw on lids so dont think i am getting anything in the water.
I have not found any issues with my setup but maybe i am wrong.
I have everything through the apex.
ok thanks, was trying to do the same without apex but can't find a timer for 24hrs.
Some salt mixes have organics in them so they are not good to let sit for long periods. Other than that, others can be stored as RHF has explained.
Additionally many of the "Reef" mixes that have elevated levels of minerals, Calc, Alk, should be avoided for storage for more than a few days as the extra just settles out and it's a waste of money and more work cleaning the bin out.
