I was wondering if anyone had thought (or built) about setting a kind of automatic dispenser for the salt. Like those you can find in huge bakery industry for flour and such. Idea would be to put in 3-4 boxes of salt then just forget about it. You set it to dispense a set amount of salt once a week, let mix for a day, then send it in display with solonoid controlled valve, while another one divert the return to sump.

Humidity would be my only concern. If the hopper isn't sealed well enough you might wind up with one very large block of salt. But I like it otherwise!

Thank you! Steal away! I believe in whatever it takes to make this hobby easier. We all got our ideas from somewhere else, right?

There was a thread in the DIY forum a few years ago, I believe it was to use some kind of auger and motor. Don't know if it ever got off the ground or not to be honest

I remember a conversation about a salt hopper, and industrial pinch valves, or augers. As long as you only stored A short times worth of salt, humidity shouldn't be an issue, unless you live in south FL like me...
Good job Bluefish9!

I dont understand how this hose setup works. Is that clean salt water or RO coming out of that hose? Also, I assume you are "filling" something with that hose and it is being driven by a pump that is not in the pucture. Can you really close the valve on that PVC arm all the way when you are done filling whatever it is your filling without damaging the pump?

Id love to be able to do something like this setup. Would be great to just stretch a hose across the house to fill up the ATO reservoir.

The pumps are in the second picture... The hose can be switched to either faucet, one is rodi and one is salt.

Does anyone know of a good hi low level float valve. Looking for a valve not a switch that requires a solinoid. Don't even know if it exist. Maybe 10-12 inch from hi to low. Something like what a float switch for a sump pump does but reversed and a valve not a switch

But what about pump damage from fully closing the valves when it is running? Or is that not an issue?

It's not an issue. The pump may cavitate while the valve is closed, but it shouldn't hurt anything for the short time the pump will be on and the valve is closed.

I'm setting mine up the same way.
