Somebody has got issues...I like it!
Hi
Im in the process of setting up RODI to 2 75G storage tanks. One for salt and other RODI water.
Previously I used to have the mechanical float switches.
This time around I am thinking about using float switches and solenoid valves.
I'm looking for opinions from experienced folks.
My plan:
Having 2 Float switches in each 75G tanks, One at the bottom and another at the top.
How I think I want it to work:
I want the solenoid valve to switch on when the water level is lower than the lower float switch and both the floats switches are ON.
Now when the water levels begin to rise, the lower float switch will switch off but I want the solenoid to keep working, until water has filled to the top and the top float switch is also off. So solenoid off only when both float switch is off.
Now water will be used and then levels starts dropping down, the top switch switches on, but solenoid is still off, it should switch on only when BOTH the valves are on.
I did not have a controller previously. Hence dont know if this could be done on an apex.
This time I plan on using the Vertex cerebra.
Please give me your valuable input.
I have this setup in my mixing station. I explained it pretty well somewhere in this thread.
I used horizontal float switches and a break out box for my apex, it's pretty simple. Or you can just buy one from avast marine. They have a stand alone system that does all that.
Apex dosso is there a way to set up a tank to do like automatic 1 gallon water changes a day?
You need a float switch in your Rodi container. Also need a selnoid to shut off water supply. And Neptune apex to control it all.Hey plumbing gurus please help me out. I have 2 of these tanks, http://www.tank-depot.com/productdetails.aspx?part=A-VT0020-16 . I will be placing them side by side on a platform and will feed the left one from my rodi system. I've read through this entire thread and I just want to do this as simple as possible.
What's the best way to feed the rodi from left to right for mixing in the second container? I see most have some kind of pump but my knowledge of plumbing really is nonexistent. I also want to be able to fill buckets from either container. I would like to manually turn on the rodi system and have a float valve turn it off when it's full. I don't want it to turn on again until I manually turn it on again. Also, what fittings do I need to accomplish this? In simplest language possible, please help me accomplish this.
Thank you
Using mine during mixing longer than a few hrs will drive my water temp to above 95 degrees, the 1st time this happened I used a 17 cu ft wheel barrel filled with 20 gal pellet ice and water with 100 ft of 1in pex inside barrel to cool off water, now I'll make my water at night fill with 5 gal of water, mix salt, circ tank while filling up for about 2 hrs, then turn off pump till next day and turn back on pump for a couple more hrs, check levels, turn off pump for a couple more hrs, let it degas, do water change, I still get micro bubbles fromy the gas but had no problems so far, I only make water when it's time, I currently have 20 gal setting in tank, been there for a month or more. I have a low demand tank right now, zero nitrates, levels are stable other than dkh, 100 ml a dayWhat are you guys doing to handle heat from your pumps? My garage gets crazy hot and with a sicce 2.0 running inside the brute can it gets boiling hot and then doesn't cool back off.

Let's see your pics and build plans for your mixing station!!
Here is rupes reef's station that is currently for sale.
