Saltwater on the North Side

I was on the north side of mke and found a pet store on 76th and Good Hope called something Tropical Life Pets. Pretty expensive, but they had a decent amount of saltwater stuff. Anybody have any experience with this place?

Flatworms! flatworms! flatworms!

there are a lot of flatworms in their tanks., they are expensive, and unfortunately are not as knowledgable as you would expect them to be.

the braintrust here on RC or in WRS is way better, and is free. better yet, we dont want to try to sell you anything :)

i do occasionally shop there, but only buy anything if its a good deal.

Actually I was in there early this week, the first time in about 2 years. Wow did that place change. The fresh water stuff looked good, but the salt water fish were half missing fins and just did not look real healthy. Yes they had frags but nothing for sale looked good to me.

Now the last time I was in there the two things that impressed me was the cleanlyness and lack of odors in there place. Wow was I shocked how those areas took an abrupt reversal this time.

And there prices... Well they were better than the other times I was in there but by no means the most reasonable in town.

My thoughts are if you cannot find it elsewhere then they probably will have it. But know what your buying and be carefull that what you buy is healthy, regardless where you buy it from. That is the big drawback about buying on line.

This is why we should quarantine our corals/livestock, to avoid adding things like flatworms into our own systems. Some flatworm exit should do the trick, here.

I bought a CF fixture from them before I knew anything about saltwater. Paid 200 for it when I could of got it for 80 in the net. I got it home and it didnt have the bulbs in it (the bulbs were included in the price). Had to drive another half hour to go back. I got there and was very nice, never once rude, in conveying what happened. I talked to the owner and told him of the inconvienence of driving an hour there and back. What was his response??? "You should have known it did not have bulbs in the box" Now keep in mind I just dished out 200 into his store, and he replys with that!!! I was expecting some sympathy for the hassle I went thru, maybe some store credit? Then he followed with "I wasn't the one that sold you the light, so its not my mistake" I will never go back there and give them another penny. Just thought I'd share my experiance with there pleasant owner.
