Sandstorm problem

I have 2 tunze 6000's in my 180g that i just filled Friday night. I have about a 2" sand bed with 110 lbs of live rock. The tank cleared up alot yesterday so i turned the Tunze's on last night. They blew the sand around all night but i figured it would settle. This morninf they are stiull blowing the sand around and have created dunes in the tank and buried a few pieces of LR.

The tank is now more cloudy than it was before i turned them on and the sand wont stop blowing. What do i do????

p.s- they are in the back corners pointed towards the front center of the tank

I don't really want to do that unless absolutely necessary. I want the full flow since my returns are weak. I don't understand. I read a ton of people with 2 6100's in the same size tank and even people with 3 or 4 6100's.

Is there any other solution other than turning the power down? Could it just be that the sand is new and hasn't settled enough yet or something?

That could be, a new sand bed may need time to settle, try different angles and reduce the flow until the sand is a bit more compacted.

Thanks Roger!

The tank is almost completely clear now so when i get home today, i'm gonna turn the 6000's back on and hook up the 7095.

Any suggestions on the settings for the 7095?

Since your sand bed is new just set your streams to pulse and set the min and max of both channels to the lowest setting. Give the sandbed a month or two to settle and establish, then from there slowly raise the max setting.

A month or 2?!?! Dang, thats a long time!

Well, i hooked up the 7095 and tirned the 6000's back on. I put it on interval 2 and all seemed ok but after a few minutes it started to blow the sand a little. It actually made some kinda cool tiny little sand tornados on the sand bed:)

I turned them down to about 50% at max power so they are going from 30% to 50% now. Hopefully, that will cause the little sand drifts to stop and allow the sand bed to settle but still give me some flow.
