Coral Killer
It has not been a good news day for fish in the household today
I was thrilled 9 days ago when I found my complete trio of Borbonius Anthias still in a 40G Breeder holding tank that I had put them in June after a show. I was for sure there were 2 left, but I had a bad view of the tank and could not confirm for sure. It was exciting to find all 3! They, along with my Magnificent Foxface, were moved into the sump of the new system as they tend to have a bit of an attitude and would have to stay in the sump until my more timid fish are placed in the display. I was really disappointed when I found one of them stuck dead to the screen of my return pump this morning. I did a quick test and I have all 0's for Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia. Not sure what happened there.
To add to the great morning, my husband called me at noon to inform me of complete carnage in my 2500 Gallon Koi pond. I lost 8 large adults and all their last summers offspring. He scooped out 13 himself and I came home after work and can see plenty more under the yet unfrozen sections of ice. It was in the 60's today and this is the first time I've seen in my pond since November. I had my heater break and I replaced it immediately after finding it and I also had the cord come unplugged another time from the weight of the snow on the cord. Both times I can't tell how long it was not functioning, but obviously it was long enough to kill everyone. Guess I have lots of work to do this spring trying to clean-up and problem solve. Today sucks for sure! :mad2:
Time to go finish taking down my temporary system in the fishroom.
