SaraB's 268 Gallon Build¦ Try #3!

This will most definately be a sweet tank when them LPS start to grow and fill in the tank. Like the looks of the new aquascaping as well. Definately gave me a few ideas for the new beast I just got into my basement.

I put the Elegance in the tank last night and then changed my mind this morning about keeping it in there. There are no fish in the display so I'm not feeding the tank. I took it out this morning and moved it into the fuge so that I can easily feed it for a month or so. Here it is right after the move to the fuge.

Here's the fuge. There's some hammer and frogspawn in there as well ... Gary ran out of room and needed to put it somewhere.

The elegance looks really nice...I got a very similar aussie elegance from sho tank and it seems very hardy so far, I've had it for 3.5 months now. Seems the aussie elegances do better than the Indo ones.

The Aussie's by far are hardier than the Indo's! I've wanted a pink tipped one for a long time, so I couldn't pass this one up!

Sara, do you think it would be possible to get a video of the surge tanks firing etc? If we get the house we like when we move, I'm thinking about sticking a pair of surge tanks in the attic above the tank, and have them fire from either opposite ends or on the same side, still not sure what would be best.

Sorry I have not gotten to that yet Chris. I've been pulled up to work in Toronto Canada during the work week, so I only have weekends and I'm spending them trying to work on the tank or snowmobile. It will be a couple of weeks, but I'll see who locally can help me with that request.

I'm still investigating what I can do to stop some of the microbubbles I'm getting in the tank. One surge hole in the display was put in a bit too low per my surge expert, and causes quite a bit of bubbles before it actually fires.

No worries Sara, I was just looking for some better videos of surges. I've got plenty of time before I need to design/implement one.

Gary said he'll help me out with this, so it will be a couple weeks and I'll have something for you to view!

I like the new elegance Sara. As you know my Aussie of 1.5 years recently melted on me. It wasn't a good thing. keep it fed and remember they don't like really bright light. I hope yours does better for you than mine did and lives for many years.

Couple new additions to the tank last night. As usual, sorry for the crappy photos!

Male Rhomboid Wrasse:

Powder Blue Tang with an orange stripe on tail:

I also added 8 anthias and only 1 has been seen for a bit today. Hopefully they settle in soon and start eating!

Wow you have some awesome taste when it comes to fish as well. The Rhomboids are quite gorgeous....But holy smokes girl....thats all I Will say about that......

Eric

The rhomboid is saweet :) Its definitely my favorite wrasse. I lost my female awhile back, but the coloration in the male has not diminished at all.

That is a cool tang hybrid, where did you find it? Looks like a PBT x Achilles...I've seen gold rim x achilles hybrids, but never one with a PBT.

What kind of anthias did you end up going with?

looks like a juvi gold rim/ powder black tang....

At least from the pic, it definitely has to be hybrid of something with an achilles (thus the orange tail). My vote on the other half is PBT. Check out this video of an achilles x gold rim - definitely a little bit different: http://glassbox-design.com/2008/rare-fish-achilles-goldrim-hybrid-tang/

Thanks all for the fish compliments.

The Tang appears to be a Powder Blue and Powder Brown hybrid at this point as the Achilles is from another region, as I was told. It's still a juvi, so it will be cool to see how it develops! I was looking for a Goldrim Achilles hybrid, but this one came available instead, so I went with it since it's quite unique.

The Rhomboid Male is a replacement for one that disappeared in my sump that is holding all the rest of the wrasses. I still need a female pylie replacement and my wrasses will be happy again! I still have the female rhomboid that will be joined with him when the other wrasses are added to the display.

As far as the Anthias go, I'd have to look them up when I'm back home from Canada. They are a deep water anthia that is very peaceful and is not always found being sold.

Have I mentioned I LOVE Divers Den???
