Very cool Sara. Are you happy with the microbubbles now? Where did you run the 5/8" hose too? I am assuming air comes out that way but so does some water?

Eric

There's still microbubbles, but there are less of them than before and they are what I expected them to be since you can never get fully rid of them with a surge.

The 5/8" hose is run into the external overflow boxes as they do shoot water!

Likewise, was nice meeting you. I definately have to say I would love to see your setup sometime when we are in Chicago. I found some nice things and came home with a gorgeous Copperband that Lisa had Kevin set aside. Its eating frozen and very nice looking. Little bigger than what I originally wanted but love it and them came home with a nice looking scoly. Was marked as something else so Kevin gave me a killer deal on it. Then my daughter picked out a randal goby and pistol shrimp for her tank. Wayyyy to much to choose from there!

The air vents look good Sara. I'm glad to see they are working out for you.

What is the expected height that the surges should be placed in the water (since you seem to have 1 at the right height, and 1 at an incorrect height)?

I had some fish additions in the display tank this weekend. I was able to visit the Divers Den in person on Saturday with a reef club and I came home with a few goodies!

I added an African exquisite wrasse, a female lineatus and a few more of the same anthias. They were added to the display at 1AM on Sunday and when the lights came on at noon on sunday, I had a lot of activity with the PBT picking on the wrasses. I decided to add some more distraction so I added 3 of my existing male wrasses ... the supermale lineatus, laboutei and pylei. The rhomboid who has been in the tank for a month wants nothing to do with the male lineatus so now he's chasing him all over the tank stressing him out :( Hopefully this stops soon!

Here's some super crappy photos, as usual that shows the added activity:

Here's a better shot of 7 of the anthias out swimming:

Awesome new fish additions!

Here's a trick I used to use when I had a PBT that was hellbent on killing any new resident. Get a full size mirror and use some books or something to affix it directly to the side of the aquarium. He'll be so angry about that "new" PBT in the tank, he'll forget all about the other new residents.

Good idea Mike! I have to still have to add my Bellus pair, the female rhomboid, a male rosefascia and my foxface ... so I might have to use the mirror trick! I'm guessing the PBT won't like my Bellus pair!

I'm also thinking I'm not going to add the pair of Borb anthias as they get pretty big and can become mean. I might put them in my look-down tank or sell them maybe.

Wow very nice setup Sara. Definitely well thought out. I've been hearing alot about the marco rock.. Are you happy with it?
Thank you!

Yes, I love the rock. You just need to keep in mind that I also cleaned it at a carwash with a powersprayer and cooked it in a garbarge can with a canister filter and phosphate remover for 8 months and seeded it with some liverock. It never cycled in my tank due to my taking those actions prior to putting it into my display tank.

I was thinking about buying some myself. I'm in the process of upgrading to a 233 gal. Currently I'm running a 150 gal. Just waiting to get a stand built. I may be ready to set it up within a month or two. I plan on cooking the rock too.. I checked out the site which rock did you buy? Its seems the only one that is available is their Key Largo selection...

I had purchased it last April when a LFS here purchased about 1,000 pounds direct from Marc. I'm guessing it was Fiji rock back then.

Sara, nice build - that tank is going to be awesome once you stock it and it can mature a bit.

I love the rock work too - I like the minimalist look of things.

Oh, and the stand/canopy look beautiful too! When you get a chance, can you take some shots of the front of the tank showing all the finished wood work? Thanks!!

Ryan009 - Thanks ... there's a few more to add yet!

customcolor - It was complete chaos with 60 people there ... we'll chat next time! I did score a few SPS myself besides the fish.

MSU Fan - Thanks! I'll try and get a better shot of the cabinetry and tank soon.

So Sara what is the Divers Den like in person?

It's pretty darn incredible! I've been in there several times with club tours and during their frag swap events. I'm like a kid in a candy store to say the least!

Here's some facts and photos of the facility. I also believe they are going to try and do a video tour through the facility to share as well.
