SaraB's 268 Gallon Build¦ Try #3!

Nice fishy Sara, now lets see the other one(s) :p

Is this the one you were looking for? He's got a couple of girlfriends that he likes showing off to!

Here's another relative newcomer to the SaraB display:

Thanks for sharing that pic Gary!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on the red-headed wrasse. I got home from work an hour ago and guess who was out for a 2nd day in a row? Hopefully he grows tired of being nocturnal and swims with the rest of fish and gets some free meals!

I had never seen one before either, so this is why I grabbed it. He was at a local frag swap of all places! I found out later they are pretty touchy and was told that I'd be lucky if it lived. He's kept me guessing for a couple months, but he's still alive and swimming so far!!!

Great info on the red-headed Sara.... I'll be on the look out for one now.

awesome...spent a good part of the day going thru this thread. I just ordered a 60x36x30 280g and am looking through the Large Reef Forum for ideas....definitely going to come back to your tank Sara for reference

Hey Sara,

I've got a yellow and purple wrasse (aka Halichoeres leucoxanthus) and he/she was a bit of a mystery for awhile as well. Didn't know if it was gonna hang in there or not and rarely saw it like yours but it has been a part of the "gang" for some time now and regularly swims with all its' other tank mates throughout the day!~

Hope yours does the same and it remains healthy for you!~

Cool, thanks for sharing that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and feeding him lots when he's out so he knows there is a free meal to be had if he comes out when the lights are on! My friend called him a psycho wrasse!

WOO HOO, Day #3 for the red-headed wrasse to be out!!! I hope we are on a roll!!!

Sounds like you are definitely on a roll. 35 days without seeing him would be crazy, I would have figured he was no longer living. I can just imagine your face when you saw him pop up on that 36th day. He must have been getting some food somehow all those days as he looks pretty good in the picture.

LOL - I was shocked to see him for sure! I yelled OMG to my husband and said that wrasse is alive!

His tail fins are a little rough ... maybe some snails and hermits were chewing on his tail while he was buried for 35 days :hammer:

Beautiful coloration. Definitely not something you see everyday. He sure look like others that grow to a nice sized puppy down the road.

Now can you imagine the horror of getting a femininus and not seeing it for 35 days :eek2: I think I would die before the fish does.

Thanks Kenny!

I think I would be dead too if I got a femininus and it disappeared ... meaning that my husband would have killed me for it! :uzi:

Alicia - here's some quick pics of the pond that I took today. Please excuse the metal hoops and wood frame and door that is still up from the hoop house that covered it all winter. We removed the plastic last weekend, but we ran out of time to take the rest down. The pond is 6,300 gallons and is 20' x 14' and 6 feet deep and has a split flow waterfall.

This is the view from the back patio:

This is the new retaining wall that went up last fall to allow for the waterfall to be set back and split:

These are 2 new tree's we put in 2 weekends ago. The peony is on the left for Kenny!:
