SaraB's 268 Gallon Build¦ Try #3!

jawdrop.gif
Garage, second garage (ah play room), snowmobiles, boats, fast cars, vehicle lifts, multiple tanks, fish room, koi pond...when will the list stop? I'm not worthy :eek1:

Sara,
Thanks for taking some shots of the pond for me :). It is really nice. You have done a wonderful job of blending it in well with the natural beauty of the land around your house. The door is such a nice touch, so inviting, makes me want to walk up to it and knock and enter the pond world where life is serene and Koi are supreme, hehehehehe. Or, depending which way you go through the door it is some weird doorway to another world...wait, that thought creeps me out so I am going with the first fantasy :D.

BTW, my two new little guys are in the big reef now, they were immediately harassed hard by my hybrid resplendent angel pair until they both left the rock area. One disappeared fast, the other hung out for an hour or so under my nanostream in the back of the tank in full view...during that time the angels did not pay it the time of day. Maybe the extra hard harassment was due to the location they were initally hanging in. Last night I got a quick look at one as it came out of hole in the middle of the rock for a second, then turned around and shinnied back in the hole. I suppose I should be happy they found a comfortable place where no one seems to be bothering them. I have complete faith they will turn up over time more and more..........Right :hmm6:????? I don't think I could take 35 days without a sighting of these guys. I'd be a complete wreck :hmm3:

You are welcome Alicia! I hope to have the door to nowhere removed after I get back from vacation. I'm not looking forward to trying to remove all that stuff, but I'll take a picture when I get the clutter removed and some mulch to cover up the mud.

Congrats on getting those fish into your display. I hate watching the "introductions" as I don't like to see the aggression when it happens. I'm sure your fish are smarter than the 35 day MIA wrasse, so you should be just fine! Can't wait to see pics in the future!

Hey Sara any cube updates? Cycle finished yet?

Sunny, high of 88 with a UV index of 10. Still a bit windy with the rip-tide continuing. No oil slick yet, but I'll be encountering it on late Wednesday when I head up to the Pan Handle of Florida to visit my brother :lol2:

I have not touched the tank since I moved the rock a bit last time. It is all cooked rock and the tank is plumbed into my big system so I won't see a cycle of sorts. I get back from vacation on Sunday night, so I'll try and mess with the rock structure a bit more next week.

Ah, now I remember that you were on vacation. Have fun and don't forget the sunscreen :beachbum:

So are they going to have to pull you out of the water and clean you up??? God, I hope the damage is minimal. We love vacationing on the Florida Gulf coast barrier islands. There is nothing like relaxing at a house right on the beach for a week.

Thanks! I've already missed a few spots and have paid the price with some burn!

I get to that part of Florida tomorrow. Right now I'm in Siesta Key by Sarasota with friends. I do plan on packing my own Dawn Detergent so they can clean me off. It's pretty darn sad ... maybe we can help on the beach if nothing else.

Sara did you make it out of there before the oil hit the beaches? Man it's a disaster and getting worse by the minute.

Yes, I left on Sunday which was prior to any oil hitting Florida. They had been very lucky with the wind changing out of the North, so the wind has kept it off the shores while I was there. I'm sure that luck is going to eventually run out for them and they will get hit by it ... very sad for the suffering state economy. My brother lives in Navarre which is about 25 miles East of Pensacola.

Glad to hear that you avoided having to deal with the oil especially during vacation. It's a sad situation that unfortunately doesn't sound like it's going to get better anytime soon :sad1:

Today marks 14 days that the Red-headed wrasse has surfaced and adapted to the daily lighting and feeding schedule!!!

He's a total food hound and now swims right up to the front of the tank when he see's me. Gary will now have an opportunity to take some better pictures of this puppy-dog fish!

Got a few new goodies for the tanks this week. I got some corals in from WWC and Reef Odyssey and also some Vortechs.

The MP10's are for the cube and the MP40W is a second one for the 268G

Your new toys will push a lot of water, sweet. If you're getting some stuff from those two it's gonna be nice. Reef Odyssey has been getting in some killer pieces lately. Did you see picts of the Strawberry Shortcake morph that he got in...wow!
