SC Aquariums Owners Thread

Just ordered my 90 gallon. Should be here mid next week. I keep hearing the plumbing isn't so great on these. As I know very little about the types of overflows and mainly how to build them, will I be okay with using the stock plumbing?

Most of these tanks seem to ship with 2 sets of bulkheads. One metric and one standard set, although I've heard a few people only got the metric set. The rest of the plumbing they sent was all metric. I didn't use any of it except the bulkheads, which seem to be just fine.

If your super excited and want to start building right away, you might want to order a set of bulkheads from BRS just to be safe. Here is my build of the SCA 120. Hope it helps (my plumbing post includes all the fittings i used)

I got in contact with Steve over there about a shipping question and he told me that all of the 80 gallons now come standard with regular schedule 40 now and the 3 holes. Just wanted to pass the info along. Looks like my job will be much easier now

Yes mine was a 3 hole too although I replaced all the plumbing components for my 80 gal. Felt they were not the best grade and did not have great fitment so mine could have been metric. I also replaced the bulkheads with BRS type since there was a fair amount of 'play' when I dry fit it. For the piece of mind it gave me I'd say its worth the extra $$$. Congrats on the tank, take your time and keep us posted.

WOW/WOW - just finished reading this thread over the last 2 days. Thank you to all that posted and re-posted - great info ......

I am in the process of figuring out my order= 150 gallon with walnut stand and canopy. I like the "Bean Animal" overflow plumbing setup the best, have my returns come over the top. This appears to be an issue as the tanks are now euro braced and I will have to modify the canopy. Also I would like to have the overflow box longer ( like a modified Coast to coast) to create better surface skimming and handle more water without being louder. I emailed Steve today -so well see what we come up with.

let us know if they will do a C2C be nice if the would just to that standard.
i am sure they can just depends on how much extra.

another option is just have then drill the tank and build out own...

Finally put my canopy to use after 1 and half years. I ran a return pipe from the back because my old 150g only had 2 drilled holes.

So you are suspending the canopy over the tank? Are you doing that because you don't want the lights too close to the water? OR so your light spreads out over the tank better, or what?

Figured I'd throw an update on mine, still coming along at about 6mo old now.
Finally growing some colored sticks, and my Magnifica is doing great and staying exactly where I scaped out for it and placed it, knocking on wood it stays that way, but seems pretty set, clowns are digging it.
That fuge light works great, growing tons of chaeto, I've pulled quite a bit out already.

looking great Davocean. What type of a DJ bar is that? I like the blue lights on it, had it long - holding up ok?

No. I said I ran a return pipe from the back because my tank only had 2 drilled holes and I used them as a Herbie system. The factory canopy won't sit on top of the tank with the return pipe there. Besides, I need access to the tank constantly for feeding and arrange corals.

Thanks, Pyle makes that DJ strip, reviews and blue light sold me on them though it's a little more money than the other, but not much.

Yes I believe that is what I paid as well, though mine came from Ebay, but B&H is a great source.

My Pyle came to me w/ one light switch being dim, I emailed them, and they had a new replacement on my porch the next morning, I had not even had time to package the old one and send back yet, so yeah, pretty good CS from those guys IMO, and this one has worked perfectly.

GOGO nice looking tank sir love the floating canopy.

Dave as always looking amazing...what fuge light is that again? must have missed it.
