Scarus quoyi parrotfish

I just claimed one at my LFS, coming in tomorrow. We will see what happens, they say they are reef safe...

Broncos gut him home two days ago, seems much happier than he was at the LFS. Gorgeous fish! Doing well so far, eating and swimming in the open.

Excellent!

Sounds like your guy has a broader palate than some others I've read about. Which frozen foods does he prefer?

Mine eats everything I feed: prime reef, hikari mega marine algae, hikari mega marine, mysis, mussel, and krill as well as Nori.

I make my own. I blend up fresh frozen shrimp, clams, mussels, squid, etc and add blended red and green nori, a sheet of brine and a sheet of mysis and some pellets. I freeze it. So they get a lot of different things. Looked like he was preferring the mysis.

I had this fish since 2008, i introduced him in another tank with less corals and it was doing fine for many months. I ended up putting that fish in the main tank afterwards. It was totally reef safe from my experience at that moment with the info we had at that moment (years ago)

I know this is an old thread. But out of curiosity, has anyone ever had multiple quoyi in one tank? I have a quoyi currently and I am looking to add another one. Just curious how they would behave together. They don't appear to be aggressive in nature.

I've seen videos of tanks with two Quoy's in 'em ... but given the way mine attacked a mirror, I'd not go there.
