There is a thread on MOFIB about this (http://www.marinebreeder.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=219&t=1276), most people who have treid say they just get down to 2 even though they are simultaneous hermaphrodites. I would like to see someone do it in a really big tank to see how it works out.
Here is my pair:

very personable and underrated fish IMO - also bulletproof!
I talked to my LFS owner today about it and she says she knows people keeping schools of chalk bass. I asked about just keeping two, but she says either one or five.
I can't decide, I don't want to keep one alone. They seem like really friendly, social fish.
