Scolymia placement

At my LFS it was 12 inches under halides, but I read they like low par. I put it out on the sand, about 18-20 inches under 6x39 T5's. Ok or should I place it higher? I noticed it's feeding tentacles came out after dark, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily happy with the lighting right?

Correct. Doesn't mean it's unhappy with it either. :)

Interest in feeding is good, and way better than "it never puts out its tentacles".

Typically, the first sign of being overlit is the coral getting pale or bleaching. Chronic deflating and tissue recession often follow.

I have three scolys on the bed of my 24" deep tank, and they're all doing great. I'm running 4x24w T5. Scoly's don't need much light.

Mine is in a 40b running 4x39w t-5 and I have it under an overhang. When I had it out in the open it looked bad. Here it is now:

It get's almost no direct light. I do feed the tank a few times a week with reef chili, it extends crazy feeder tentacles every night.

I recently purchased two new Australian Scolys. If I am reading this article you posted correctly I should not put these in the sand bed but place or glue them to a rock? The article also mentioned they should be placed horizontally. Where do you place yours?

I put mine in the sandbed but under rock overhangs. Should I remove from sandbed and place on a rock somewhere? The thing about mine is the hull like bottom shape isn't very compatible with placing on a rock...

I concur with placing them on rocks, low in the tank.
I had one on the sand and my conch steamrolled over it, still has not healed.
You can see them below.
