Scott's 270 aka Project Mayhem

On a side note, the Berghia nudibranchs did the job perfectly. The tank is near empty of Aiptasia. The only ones left are up on the return plumbing that's tough for the nudi's to get to.

Good to hear. I added 7 or 8 peppermint shrimp and while I had to kill 2 larger aptasia they finished off all the smaller ones.

I had berghia work great in my 40 but in a smaller tank they didn't finish before dying out. Maybe a pygmy wrasse was eating them?

I'd love to add peppermint but the long nosed hawkfish and marine betta would make that an expensive snack. I'd assume something ate them if they didn't get to finish the job. Mine seem voracious and have even cleaned the sand of any aiptasia!

I've ditched the idea of MH's. It's not that I don't like the idea, just it's not meant to be over this tank :) If anything I am going to add a couple more T5's to the ends of the light rack to get that last 10" on either end that seems dark. I want corals growing end to end!

So I have some annoying turf algae growing on the zoanthid colonies in quarantine. I took them out when I found some bad nudi's on the colonies. Would any of you be that worried about adding the rocks ith the algae back to the main display? The way I look at it is that something in the main tank must have been keeping it in check. There is no observable pest algae in the display tank. So this stuff just started coming out of the rocks in quarantine.

Ideas?

Add some snails or conchs in your QT and see if they will touch the stuff before you introduce it to your display when it will be too late.

Great build thread.

I contacted the company that I saw made your titanium clamps and they wanted $400 euros... I nearly soiled myself like a squid dropping ink

Yep, kinda hurt to buy them. Mine weren't that much though, you must have been looking for more/bigger ones than I used? I bought mine from this fellow, maybe try them?

The yellow tank a magnificent fox face destroyed the algae that was there. Easy peasy! Some growth pictures:

Thanks Mark. I have a line on a couple decent rainbow chalice frags and hope to be able to buy them soon. Good friend of mine also has the WWC Bounce shroom and I'd like to get a baby from him.

Lots of nice stuff out there!

How many of you truly frag your LPS? SPS are simple, snap a piece of and there ya go! LPS make me a little more nervous. I recently put a chalice on a nice big ~3" frag plug which will make it much simpler to frag when it fills it.

Bought a nice rainbow chalice that I will take pictures of when I get home. It's pretty tiny, a little smaller than the WWC Pink w/ green rim chalice posted above! Friend of mine also has a Jersey Bounce mushroom I may pick up when it's ready. I do think they look pretty cool, just could never bring myself to spend the big $$$. This way I can trade him some nice chalice frags or frags of the SI Pectina :)

I'm a big fan of bartering!

Used three Magnesium test kits. An old Salifert, new Salifert and a new Red Sea.

Old Salifert test kit: 1065
New Salifert kit: 1305
New Red Sea kit: 1380

What the hell lol!

I'm late to the party here! I clicked on your build via an Abyzz link. Great set up and execution!

You gotta love the feeling of accuracy from test kits.

I am currently in the process to transfer my 400 to a 1000 gallon. I to have a profilux controller. Did you ever get your Auto water changes going? I am going to start of with daily 10 gallon water changes.

I have not fully set up the AWC yet. I need to run pipe from my SWR to the sump system and well to be honest, I'm lazy.

I really need to though as I know the small WC's will do the tank well.
