Scott's 270 aka Project Mayhem

Oh Dave :)

AWC station stand is built! Now just to plumb it and program it all :)

Also I got the frag section lighting up and running. 3x36" T5's running off of an IceCap 430 ballast. PAR readings are ~150-200 in the middle of the frag section.

Got the recirculation plumbing in place. Waiting for stores to open tomorrow so I can get an o-ring for one of my unions. Then I can run some water :)

I just added 15 berghia nudi's to my tank to try and deal with a bad aptasia problem I am currently having. I am hoping that when I get back home after two weeks of work I may be able to see a difference but I don't feel it will happen that quick. It's going to take some breeding before there are enough to do the job. Plus my wrasses will probably be jerks and eat my investment. After this it may be filefish time or something along those lines.

Awesome build, really the entire basement project. You've made me feel I need to step up my game!

I'll continue watching this one!

Oh, and we need pics of your wife's herp tanks.

Thanks Montireef, I have used them in the past. I prefer berghia but we will see how it plays out :)

Thanks oldbones! A smooth incorporation of all our animals was the main goal. I can get you some new pics of the tanks when I get home. We just sold ~8 newborn corn snakes and found another clutch of 8-10 eggs we will incubate :)

Beautiful tank! I just got my quote today on similar deminsions 72"x36"x21. After seeing this I'm getting a lot more impatient

I couldn't be happier with the size honestly. I wanted one that was 48" front to back but it would have had to be built on site and the manufacturers couldn't give me a time frame. The 36" works fine!

What do we have on the go right now...

taiwanese blue beauty (about 8' long)
2 x milk snakes
2 x jungle corns
4 x adult corns
just sold 8 newborn corns
have 8-10 eggs in the incubator

aussie frilled dragon
pink knee tarantula

And fish :)

I'm honestly thinking about adding a couple coralvue mini MH reflectors and throwing 2 x 250W 20K bulbs into the mix... Some of the MH SPS tanks just blow my mind. Thoughts?

MH + T5 displays seem to always have the most amazing coloration to me. I think the MH provides the punch and the T5 brings out the pop or something.

cant go wrong with radiums. I think it would be an awesome addition!

Yeah radiums are our favorites too.

Do you think 2 x 250W would be good enough to get the benefits? Or do I need 3?

I was thinking something like this:

------------T5------------
------------T5------------
[M] {MH} [M] {MH} [M]
------------T5------------
------------T5------------

The T5's are 48" with individual IC reflectors and IC ballasts. The M's are 3 x 6100HV Mitras. The MH's would be 2 x 250W coralvue reflectors with electronic ballasts and single end 20K bulbs.

Yay.... nay?

If you dont mind me asking. Where did you get those welsos from? I have 5 in my tank but yours are stunning

I get them from Bayside Corals, Saskatoon, SK, CAN. Best LFS I have ever been in. They have one with a lot of yellow in it right now as well, it's beautiful!

Oh yeah two 250's will throw out quite a bit of light, and with all the other light you already have I think it would work out nicely.
