Happy birthday to your son for yesterday Bello and thank you for wishing Monique one buddy :) Monique and my son Byron both love to help on the tank it's an awesome thing for them to learn about I think and they are always asking questions about different things

Thank you guys for the birthday wishes for our little mermaid, agreed best FTS. Happy birthday to your little man Bello :)

Thank you guys as well :). I think reef tanks are amazing, for children to learn and develop a love for nature .

Having your kids help you out with the tank is just priceless :). I'm jealous :p

Fishy, I keep telling the fish to throw the ball back :furious:, they're just being bratty :p

I agree with you Bello, when the day comes that I have my own little one(s) I'll definitely let them help with the tank (hopefully by then I'll have a nice big tank:D). As long as Biggles isn't the one teaching them about reefs and nature (how to whack this with sticks):p I think they can learn alot about the ocean and the creatures that call it home. Bello you'll have to tell the fish that if they don't give it back they don't get feed:lol:.

It's great that your around regularly again Bello:beer:

Completely Bello you can't teach nature any better than having nature in your living room! My 7yo son can go into our LFS and name more things and what they do than most adults can :) it's honestly one of my favourite parts of Reefing and I'm very lucky to have them take a massive interest in the tank :D

It's a great feeling Fishy, nothing beats sharing something your passionate about with your own kids ;)

Damn fish not hitting it back, the boy wants to play hmm maybe get a dolphin lol
Watching the kids show so much interest and absorbing so much about the hobby has been a highlight, our eldest has just started a couple of hours a week at a LFS so he can learn more and help dad with tests etc and then one day have his own tank :)

Oh great, so now, to top it all of, you guys get employee discounts at the LFS? :furious: :p

Lol, I did ask the LFS about buying a Dolphin, and for some strange reason, they weren't very co-operative :sad2:.....However, they were quite keen on selling me a seal, doesn't get better than that :wildone:

Hopefully Bello ;) Now that would be a sight to see and I'd like to see the look on their faces when you asked :lolspin:

Your tank is just simply amazing.

I am setting up a 60''x27''x27'' tank. Would you recommend the 6 or 8 bulb 60'' fixture?

Thank you very much :) I'd recommend an 8 bulb fixture on that size

how far off the water level are your light units and are they dimmable?

The height of my lights varies, during winter I run them 10-15cm off the water level as it helps with adding a little heat and during summer around 30cm help keep the heat out. Either way I've seen no I'll affects :)

I think that is the best bet as well, a 6 might struggle for higher light stuff in that tank.

That is a interesting thing Scott, but I bet it works, do you see better growth in winter?

A massive Happy 5th birthday to my favourite little reefer my daughter Monique!! Always wants to help Dad clean the tank (except when it's skimmer cup cleaning time) :lolspin: love ya more than words can explain :)
