There are two scuba diving courses here at UNI this summer. They are open to the public so anyone can enroll. This includes the certification and it is only two days. The first session is May 16th, and 17th. the second session is July 8th and July 15th these are Saturdays. As of today (May 9th) they had openings in both. She did not know the exact price of the course but I think it is between 200$ and 300$. Very cheap considering what it could cost. If you want to enroll or have any questions call 319-273-7740 or 1-800-6483864

Xroads you better get certified just so you can clean your 3000 gal. :)

Ok i have more info on the class. It is 228.75$ and is from 9:00am to 4:00pm on both days. There is a text book you have to have, but i would be willing to split the cost with anyone interested.

1st day of Scuba done! Well worth it. You have to swim 200meters which is really is not bad. But other than that it is great. The instructor has taught the class for over 20 years and is a really nice and a very knowledgeable guy. UNI has nice up-to-date equipment and you get to do a freshwater dive ( I know, nothing like a reef) in a private quarry full of all sorts of freshwater fish and turtles. The instructor even said that the water is clearââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚¦well I hope so, but I am going to have to see it to believe it here in Iowa. If you pass you are PADI certified for life! This is something you can take at a resort, but why waste the time and money when you are on vacation when you could do it now. The one at the resort is like a four hour course and this is two days allowing you to really learn how to enjoy diving and not worry about if you are going to live. Not advertising for UNI, just thought I would share my experience with everyone! There is still one more class this summer!
