Sea Hare (Aplysia sp.) experiences

I was thinking about getting one from liveaquaria, but don't know much about them. I've seen ones that were pretty large, but seemed healthy and actively eating like crazy. I just don't know about how easy it is for them to "ink" and if that's poisonous. Also how big do they get? I have a ton of caulerpa in my display, plus some in my sump fuge, and even more in my 75 gallon display. I try and try again to get it out of my 180 display but it always comes back. I have this pocillopora LR with crevices that make it very hard. I can take most of it out every time I change the water, but this is so backbreaking and tedious. I have so much of it that I doubt it would end up starving like I heard they do. I would rotate it around the different tanks. I just need something to control this caulerpa besides my scrubbing.

Everyone I had tried (2) have died. One got stuck in a rock structure that looked like it caved in on it. The other got stuck to a maxijet mod.

Neither inked.

Aquaworld get them in regularly and they are under $20. I would go that route before ordering online.

mine ate and ate my hair algae - but one day disappeared. still had plenty of algae for him to eat

Ya, that's where I saw them. They looked healthy, were eating and very active. They were bigger than I expected though. I've been reading in the sea slug forum and found that depending on the species they can be anywhere from 1-2cm to 99cm. Cause the ones at Aqua World would be too big. They would knock over everything. I was hoping liveaquaria had a smaller species.

i also tried two...got them really small. lasted about 4 days and disappeared.....one, then the other....no pieces or anything. stick with snails.
