I love those star fish! And the little blue spotted jawfish!! I bought one once and he dissapeared in a day! I was sooo bummed and too expensive to try again. I also like your fav shark pic and I liked the shark skeleton that was AWESOME!! Thats one heck of a tank decoration! Thanks for sharing looks like it was a nice trip.

So what's the general vote? Was it worth the trip and the cash? I want to go, but wanted to hear what others had to say first.

She loved it and so did the kids. I haven't been there. They got to go for only $5 per person so it was cheap for them. I do not know how much it is normally though so I can not comment on that at all.

My wife wants to go, I've sort of on the fence about it. Much of what's in the pictures I could probably see at the LFS. ;) But the sharks are cool. I am sure I will eventually end up going.

Maybe if enough of us on here and AZR wanted to go as a group we could get a group rate like they did.

Anyone who knows Greg want to see if that is at all possible? Perhaps even a behind the scenes tour. Psuedo are you out there?

my opinion i didn't think it was worth the 18.50 a person . I appericate all the tanks especially the huge tank but I would of just rathered gone to aqua touch and stared at there awesome tank. It was all fish no coral at all. BORING... lol sorry my opinion i like looking at corals

Does anyone realize that the tanks are biotopes of say the sea of Cortez... Go ask AT what corals are in their display from that part of the world...

The biotopes at Sealife are not intended to be reef tanks or even reef biotopes, please be realistic about what you ate looking at. For what Sealife is, it is an incredible public aquarium right here in our backyard in AZ, a landlocked state. I think it is worth every penny of the admission because you cannot see the stuff they have on average at ANY LFS.

And no I don't work there or have anything to do with the company.

I am being realistic...which I why I am not sure I want to spend the money on it...

I agree that by going to my LFS I can see some pretty cool fish and corals. I can even BUY some of them.

Pretty much the larger sharks seem like the only thing they have that AquaTouch doesn't...I haven't been yet, so maybe I am wrong.

I for one enjoy seeing fish in their natural habitat or as close to it as possible. Seeing a $400 8"+ tang in a 2 foot box is actually sad in comparison. Or even a med-lg angel in that same LFS. This is not a shot at AT or any LFS. I just think people are expecting to see a pimped out reef tank at Sealife, and the reality is that's just not going to happen unless they put up say a great barrier reef exhibit or something.

Seeing how fish behave when they aren't penned into a tiny box is why I prefer watching fish at Sealife over a fish at a LFS any day.

We had no idea how much it is normally and now hearing that I ask my GF if she thinks it is worth $19 to go there and she says NO. Looking at this realistically that seems overpriced just a bit. It is a small exhibit, I might feel better about it if it were more like $12 per person but not $19.

But I feel that $5 for a soda and another $5 for popcorn at the movies is a rip off as well yet I still pay it lol.

I will go, just keeping in mind it's more of a zoo type thing than an actual aquarium...if you know what I mean. I guess I have trouble not comparing it to Monterey bay or Shedd's both of which I've been lucky enough to visit.

AZSW is right. We have Biotopes from AZ's streams and lakes feeding down the Baja and the Sea of Cortez and finally out to the Pacific. We planned our collection around these areas, so reefs don't really fit the bill. However, we do have some zoanthids, anenomes, and mushrooms that are native to the Sea of Cortez. That being said, I know this is a group of reef enthueists and it might be what you're solely looking for on trips to an aquarium. I do find it funny that our "small exhibit" is just 190,000 Gallons! LOL, one for the books there. I believe we over shoot just about everything in AZ with that. Hope to see a few of you guys there.
