sea swirl/nanostream mod

I don't know if anybody has seen but wavy sea came out with a mod so that you can rotate your bigger tunze stream pumps. You can have the best of both worlds, wide laminar flow and random back and forth flow. Too bad I don't have either. I do have lying around a sea swirl and a tunze nanostream 6045. I thought I may be able to achieve the same thing with an easy zip tie mod. I'm just questioning the sea swirl's torque capacity. So far it's done well with the 6045 on it outside of water. You can see the wavy sea mod here Here are the pics from my mod...
What do you guys think?

I like it Jordan. I have an extra 6025 laying around because I go a 6000 for the tank. How deep of sand bed are you going to do? BTW, reminder to paint the back of the tank...

jordan, i'm not sure how much torque you'll be putting on the ss with both the tunze and your return. i can tell you that my seio 1500 rigged to a 1/2" ss works pretty good :D.

Thanks!

Mark: I'm going with a 1" sand bed. Don't worry, I already painted it. I'll start my build thread when I get home. How do you like the new 6000?

Tim: I'll be keeping slack on the stream's cord and the nanostream is a lot lighter than the seio. It's reasurring that you have the seio on there. How long have you had it like that? Thanks for the pic!

the seio has been mounted to the ss for 8mos now. that tunze cord normally ain't like that but i've been really slackin' with the tank ;)

pico, do you have any pictures on how that hooks to the tank? also, is it connected to your return or do you have a separate pump for it? where did you get the split flare nozzle?

The split nozzle is a loc-line Y. It allows for more flow over 180 degrees of the tank. It does restrict the flow, but the watermovement is tank wide.

Jordan- Are you back from your vacation?

Also, do you have a shaded area under your mod? My sea swirl Y mod leaves a small shaded area.

That's good news Pico! I'm doing mine now but I'm not planning on having my returns go through the swirl, they will just be Tunze turners.

here's mine Pico1:

A couple of pics of my Tunze 6025 mod and connection to my two 3/4" Swirls. The Tunze mod has been out there for a couple of months now with a ton of success.

The thread that started the Tunze mod is here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1025361
What I did plus more mods for even more flow, check it out, it's good info.

Well here is my try at it! I cut the plastic tube inside the 6025, my buddy has a dremel and it cut through it like butter! From what is reported, flow increase should be around 300 - 400 gph!

My return pump is a Mag12 and that's not going to be enough for two Swirls so I decided to keep the return plumbing as is and just mod the two swirls to carry the new modded Tunze 6025.
I took off the 90 elbow and replaced with two 1" PVC caps. These things are extremely snug and I have all the confidence that they will hold. I used two part epoxy to glue the swing bracket to the 1" cap. Now my pump can be turned anyway that I want as it swings and it will be super easy to disconnect for cleaning.

I wish I had black or even grey PVC but I couldn't wait. I know that this will be covered by corraline quickly so no worries.

I haven't tried it out yet, it's still drying! I'll get back once I have them going!!!
