I can't believe it. I have worked with about four species of SeaHorse in my life, but I never worked with the pot belly althought I did investigate importing them with the major aquaculture company.

I feed them marine grass shrimp which they have never seen. They knew they were food so they pushed them along the bottom with their nose. Finally they started snapping them up. I could not believe how they knew they were food even though they have never seen them. The pushing and prodding is so investigative. Just amazing. I have never seen this in erectus.

Had similiar experience with reidi. Wanted to make sure the food was worthy I guess. These seahorses, no mannors, always playing with there food.

How big are your pots?

I actually will be getting a pair from seahorsesource next week also.....would love to know how you do with them. I can't find a lot of keepers of temperate tanks.

so far so good. they are a little confused with the frozen marine grass shrimp while the erectus half their size gobble them up. When the pot bellys see the mysis, watch out. Its like a dinner bell.

Are you going to raise some fry? How old/large is the pair you got?
What is your set up like?

Glad they are doing so well for you. Do you have anything else in with them?

Thanks,
Dana
