Ok so we have had this guy for 3 months he was nice and brown when we bought him but he has bleached out the point where he is almost see through. He is eating silversides and target food and is super sticky. His mouth is gaping most times and he is also moving around the tank like crazy. My wife is Obsessed with getting him better....

72G Bowfront
30G sump
1900GPH water flow
2 / 175 W MH Canopy
1 96W PC Atinic
PH 8.3
Ammonia 0
Nitrates Barley on the chart
Sal 1.025

We upgraded from a established 55g tank to this 72 6 months ago but we took over everything.. rock water ect.

Here are some pics, any advice would be appreciated.

The fact that it hasn't attached worries me a bit. Try digging a depression in the sand and sitting it within it to see if it settles. A healthy individual settles pretty quickly and stays put if conditions are to its liking.

He was stuck to a rock for over a month, he has moved since. We tried buring him in the sand but he floats right out :(

Don't bury it, just set it in the depression. Try doing a waterchange and see if that does not help. It has helped me in the past. You say you are feeding silversides--how often?

a small one every 2-3 days. Ok we made a depression and set him in it, I will let you know how it goes.

The 20Ks are going to be pretty dim by halide standards. A lower to mid kelvin temperature works best for lower wattage lighting.

Try feeding raw shrimp, you can buy a huge bag at your local market for less than $10.00. Very small pieces, small enough that you use a turkey baster to shoot the shrimp pieces into the anemone. Silversides are not ideal food for anemones. I also use Rod's Food and they seem to love it.

I would also look into changing your bulbs and going with a 10K until your anemone heals up. That should help him out along with the food.

Plenty of people have great success with silversides...why do you say they aren't ideal food? I'm just curious, as i've seen them suggested what seems like hundreds of times.

yea i have to disagree anemones love silversides
i use rods food as well but dont feed it to my anemone its not neccesry

Silversides are all I feed my H. crispa and she spawns multi-annually, so I would think that they would be an acceptable substitute.

I will bow to the more experienced!
I used to feed silversides and noticed my anemone regurgitating 1/2 what I fed it. Once I started raw shrimp, I noticed a much happier anemone.

I should stop drinking beer and cruising RC . ..

It really is no big deal. There are lots of acceptable foods. I was just noting that silversides are an acceptable food for this species. You are not entirely wrong at all--some specimens of certain species will not accept them, so you must find an acceptable substitute.

No worries Amphiprion, sometimes I put my foot in my mouth and think because I do it one way, it's the right way! Again, to many visits towards my kegorator, bad kegorator!
