Sigh I think he finally kicked the bucket

My clown is going to go nuts.... Does this mean I should not have a nem? Or should I go with something easier like a BTA?


TO answer the question above I use Salifert test kits and the nitrate level was just about ero.... Do these things sometimes just die or does it have to be something in my tank?

Try feeding raw shrimp, you can buy a huge bag at your local market for less than $10.00. Very small pieces, small enough that you use a turkey baster to shoot the shrimp pieces into the anemone. Silversides are not ideal food for anemones. I also use Rod's Food and they seem to love it.

I would also look into changing your bulbs and going with a 10K until your anemone heals up. That should help him out along with the food.

I disagree because people can have great success with silersides(ss), but I would not feed ss to my anems. I have heard of problems with bones sticking in the anem and basically choking it to death. Not common, but possible. I've choked on a fish bone before and it is not fun.

I use all inverts(talked about it on four or five different posts) with supplements. SS's have a bony structure that makes it a little more difficult for anem to eat/breakdown. The chitonous shell of most inverts(mysis, brine) can be easily digested by the anem and the larger foods(table shrimp, clams, oysters) shells can be removed. I have never seen my anem's expell foods, waste, anything out of their mouth, so I'm assuming my diet is working well. they have grown from cloned babies(1-2" and bleached), into full grown mothers.
