Anyone here have a house with a septic tank? If so what do you do with the saltwater from your water changes? I do 200 gallon a month water changes!
Anyone know what you should do with dirty saltwater on property's with septic systems?

Shouldn`t be a problem. I would hate to drop all 200 gallons in at once- but even then it should not be a issue. A average person uses about 70 gallons of water a day- so you can see how quickly the SG would drop-especially if you have a family! If you were worried you could dump a box of rid-x in once a month to boost bacterial levels in the septic system.

My dad does about 100 gallons a month and he killed his septic. And he does dump brown sugar in for bacteria too. I would highly not recommend it. Dump it outside.

I dump mine outside, theres a ditch I just dump it into. Im good for about 200 gallon water changes myself.. Def dont dump it in the septic, its not worth the headache, if things go wrong...

I run a hose out my window/door. I want to run a pipe under ground to some corner of my property where I can dump the water and just kill a small spot.

I've been thinking about this lately. Normally I dump it outside but I'm thinking about putting my water change waste water into a black stock tank outside, letting the water evaporate and collecting the salt for deicing in the winter.

I'm not sure how this will work but I'm going to try it.

I pump it to the back corner of my property were I don't have to worry about the salt killing grass or trees

I dump mine down the septic, but I only change 2x15g/mo, so it's only 30 gal. For those saying "it's not good for your septic", please go ahead and test the pH and salinity of your urine tomorrow morning. Then report back letting us know what you're going to do with your pee that must not be good for your septic either....

I change about 50gals month. Never crossed my mind about my septic, but I have always dumped it on my gravel walk way and driverway. Cheaper then weed B gone

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the problem is salt creep coating the leachfields and eventually not allowing the liquids to drain properly

Everything that I have read (so far) about septic systems is that you should limit the excess amounts of water that you put into them. I would think that this would include water change water.

Correct me if I'm wrong but It does rain outside right? I don't think I'll still be alive by the time this happens.

Ridex biggest scam in the septic business.. The first time the wife washes the close the bactia is dead. Specially if she uses bleach!

if your leach field is new or working good your fine. excess water is the main problem with the fields if they are failing. the soap from your washing machine is the main thing that causes the field to fail overtime which is why getting a frontloader that uses less soap is a good idea. many people illegally hook their washing machines to drywells for this reason. my father was a health inspector in south jersey for over 30 years and mainly dealt with septic systems.

as stated above ridex and any other septic additive is a waste of money. everytime you drop the kids off to the pool you are replenishing the bacteria in the tank.
