serial to wireless ethernet adapter

clp,

would a linksys Wireless-G Game Adapter work to that lantronix uds1100 i have or it will need drivers.

Works without drivers on PlayStation®2, Xboxâ"žÂ¢, and GameCube

Some game adapters are not visible or are removed from wireless network if they don't receive packets from the Ethernet interface. If the lantronix box sends out periodic packets, then it will keep the wireless interface of the game adapter alive. If so, have the game adapter in the path should be transparent.

now i am no IT know it all.
i got this d-link wireless gaming adapter dwl-g820. linky http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=333

i did the setup. i am able to view it and connect to it from my wireless router. ip address i am temp using is 192.168.1.76. now my lantronix serial to ethernet is set to 192.168.1.75.
when the lantronix is on the cat5 cable to my wireless router, i can connect aquanotes with the redirector program that makes 192.168.1.75 into comport 3. when i connect the lantronix cat5 cable directly to the wireless g adapter. i get no ping response to .75.

so how is .76 supposed to pass thru or bridge or whatever to get to .75??? is there supposed to be another small router there in between .76. and .75?

this is experimental and fun for me. i think im already moving towards running cat5 from the tank to the router. or buying a serial to wireless ethernet lantronix box.

ok
i just did something, i change the settings on the dlink wireless g adapter, i check 'alway on' on the telnet.
now for some reason i cannot get to .76 where the dlink game adapter is. but NOW i can get to .75 to my lantronix.
and that means after i open aquanotes i can now connect to it wireless thru the wireless game adapter thru the lantronix serial to ethernet to the ACjr.
everything is working wireless and its awesome now. maybe its time to go full version on the aquanotes?

i just have to figure out if the the game adapter is really on .75 or .76 ? i know the lantronix is on .75 can two items be on the same ip without conflict or is some sort of piggyback or bridge?

ok last post im going to sleep cause its already 1:10am
now i am able to get to .76 which is the html setup page of the wireless game adapter.
also still get to .75 which is the lantronix html setup page
and still can connect and disconnect and reconnect without problems to aquanotes with comport 3 via redirector of 192.168.1.75:10001

good nite

Two things could be wrong. The serial cable or the serial mod.

Unplug the serial cable from the router and telnet to the device port (7000). When you type, you should not see anything on the screen, that's normal.

Now, on the serial (DB9) connector on the router, short pin 2 and pin 3 and then type in the telnet session, you should see what you type echoed on the screen.

If this works, then your cable is bad. If it does not work, your serial mod is bad or is using the wrong serial port.

I just did this mod using an ad233bk and am having the same problem. I can get into the control port but not the device port, i have it enabled in the settings and have tried jumping pins 2-3 on the db9 but get no echo. I am pretty sure i modded it right. Does anyone have any other ideas i could try to diagnose the problem?

I guess one thing i should mention, i only had a 9 pin cable so i did everything according to the instructions and didn't ground pin 10. Do you think this could be my problem? I am wondering if i just short 9 and 10 now that 9 is grounded it will work.

Without the ad233bk installed, if you short pin 3 and 5 on the IDC header, do you get an echo?

Yup get an echo there, except now the led doesn't light up on my mod....

Something got to be wrong with the ad233bk. If you get an echo by shorting 3&5 on the IDC you should also get an echo by shorting 2&3 on the DB9.

Well that sucks, im gonna have to re check all my solder joints and see if i can find anything wrong.

Thanks for the help. If nothing else i guess i will try another kit.

This is driving me nuts, i have gone over all my connections and all the wiring several times and still can't get an echo by shorting 2 and 3 on the db9. I have checked for continuity on each side of the chip and its good. I am starting to wonder if my chip is bad, i really don't know what else to do with this thing now.

I did manage to figure out the power issue, was just a matter of pushing the header on all the way. I am totally out of ideas...going to try a different chip i guess. If that doesn't work maybe i'll buy a new router someday.

Do i need to change anything in the control port? I have tried enabling port 7000 and changed it to raw, i thought that did it but still stuck.

Can you post close-up pictures of your ad233? Component side and solder side. Pics of the connectors (IDC and DB9) would help too.

You should not have to change anything in the control port.

Here we go.

The DB9 connector 4 and 6 connected as well as 7 and 8.

Back of the PCB note the blue wire is grounded

Back of the router, i only had a 9 pin cable so by jumping 9 and 10 they are both grounded.

See anything wrong?

De-solder the wires coming from the DB9.

On the DB9:
Connect 1, 4 & 6 together.
Connect 7 & 8 together.
Connect 2 to DB9,2 on the PCB
Connect 3 to DB9,3 on the PCB
Connect 5 to DB9,5 on the PCB (ground)

Check the via.

The instructions you followed are for the dual serial mod. You ended up with serial2 instead of serial1.
