Setting up a 180

yeah I should have included the link. The good thing is when you order base rock there is less weight because of water and there rocks are very pourous. I have been away for a month but now that I ma back in Fl the temps here are insane. I think it was 97 in Orlando a few days ago.

97:eek1: We were in FL 2 years ago, during the first week in June. It was hot then but not 97. With the Humidity 97 must feel like 107, I remember how cool the ocean was. During dusk we would wade in the water being careful not to get to close to the many small rays and the big crabs coming in the shallows to feed.

Thank you NanoGurl, it is good to be back:)

I went with a current prime modular 2606 1/3 hp, I bought it off of ebay at a very good price. It is in very good shape, was used for under 60 days for a demo tank.
It's a little bigger than I thought it was going to be but it fit were I wanted it to.

Easy to set up, I have it connected to the output line of my skimmer and then from the output of the chiller to the sump. Very quiet operation and easy controller setup.

Thanks! I hope I don't need one, but if I do i'll msg ya.

It's been over 100 here. At like 9pm yesterday with the humidity index it was 107!

With temps like that, I would hate to be out in the sun for very long or even the shade for that matter.

I hope you and your family are keeping cool.

I have been following this thread but havent posted. So here I go, If the plate u have dies just leave it they often look like this when they have babies!!! And as for the ick I've heard feeding the fish heavily helps! I am starting to build our new 180 and have used a couple of your methods I hope u dont mind. Super nice tank sorry to hear about your troubles.

Thanks! We have AC but even with it running 24/7 it gets to like 82 in my room upstairs for a good part of the day. Too hot!

Good luck with a tank that big... especially with all of those fish in there!

If I were you, I would remove some fish that look alike. You agression will reach new hights when some of those fish mature!

Hello there MrSaltLife, thanks for posting and use any idea or method you find here...I borrowed most of them myself;)

You are right about the plate, I am going to be patient and leave it alone.

All the fish have huge appetites, I only give them what they can finish in 3 minutes...But they sure can eat allot in those 3 minutes.

Good news about your 180 and good luck setting it up.

Are you going to start a thread ?

That is too hot! We have central air but only have it piped to the first level (we have a ranch house), but the basement now gets to hot...of course the lights, pumps, chiller and dehumidifier have pushed the normal temp of 78 to about 85. Unfortunately we sleep down stairs and my wife is none to happy about it.

I am going to to add a pipe to the air conditioner and bring it down in the basement...that is when it gets a little cooler out:p

Thanks Atomikk, I did do some research before adding the fish I have. The 2 tangs I have will be the largest fish once fully grown. The tank has plenty of open room for them at that size.

As for the 2 yellow tails, 1 three stripe, 1 domino, 1 clown and 1 Lawnmower Blenny, they are about fully grown. The only fish of these I would be willing to remove would be the three stripe, but that is my daughters fish so it has to stay.

Same here, but what I did, was I purchased a portable air conditioner, then ran the exhaust out through header board (or baseboard, whichever its called) works great!! although I have the air in the fish room, the tank runs between 78.8 - 79.2

Interesting solution 2farNorth, I thought of doing something similar. But since I have a opening that goes from the air handler in the attic all the way down to the basement; I figured it would be cost effective to get the insulated hose and tap into the air handlers output trunk and drop it down.

The only problem is it will only produce when the upstairs thermostat kicks in.

Hi, I will hopefully get my tank soon I have all equipment and live stock but just wanted a little bigger with no scratches(LOL0

So MrSaltLife, did you get that tank yet;) I mean it's been like a week already:lol:

I hope your new tank set's up without a hitch, the information here on RC has been extremely helpful to me and I know it will be for you too.

No not yet I also found a good deal on a 210 from the same guy so I'm still thinking! What about new tank pics havent seen any lately
