My wife painted the front facade black, I think it looks much
better now then when it was white.

An action shot....

it would have ben more cramped for walking room up in your living room with that sucker up there... but im glad you did the fan to outside.. another thing you could do (works realy well in the winter) is get fresh air in from outside to the skimmer air line. i have my big skimmer done that way and my redox is at 300 now with no ozone being used. ever since i hooked that monster up everything started looking better overall.

being black makes you look at the tank more than the stand...i like it. now your tank looks realy clean and open......i like that too

Dave, how did you get outside air in to your skimmer?

And yes you can have a frag of the prurple tip, it is so thick it is choking out the light to it's lower branches.

well you drilled a hole to the outside for the bathroom fan...right...now drill a smaller hole for like a 1/2"pvc to the outside and cap it off on the inside and put a hole in that for your air line to go into. on the outside just make it like a dorso so snow dont get in it and superglue a screen on it so bugs dont get in it too :)

thanks for a frag......when i get my butt over there to get it... :D

Thanks Dave, hey do you want that frag on a plug or loose?

I noticed some pictures are not linked correctly....I have been having trouble with photobucket since they made some changes. Not to impressed with them, but it's free.

It is a bit bigger than I thought it would be and
sticks out a bit farther than I like......

In the tank for trials...

It pushes a ton of water on high, so much so it pushes
the smaller fish around, my blue hippo loves the higher flow.

When I went to high, it kicked up the sand bed and
kicked debris off of the live rock. More so than the
Wave2k did.

One bad thing, it vibrates quite a bit when on high so
I might have to turn it down at night.

Yes I can Dave....:D

It is set at full speed with 30 second interval, it pauses
about 3-5 seconds before starting the shift from
one side to the next.

You can still see the debris being circulated, it has
been running for a while now and it still keeps
the debris suspended.

If I can get it to quiet down it will be an
awesome addition.

It has a minimum of 15 seconds to a max of 30 minutes. It can also be constant on but only with one side.

No pulse modes nor wave modes, but that is ok with me, I was looking for the alternating flow at 5500 GPH.

I am still bothered by the noise it makes, much less than the wave2k made even at it's quietest...but since we sleep close by the tank it's still too noisy.

I will play around with it on my week off next week, maybe I can find a way to reduce the vibration a little.

The corals are loving it, even at it's lowest setting it's still got excellent flow...

well you never know till you try it......like your wave 2k, ewww. you could have goten 2 hydor magnum 6 or 7s and a regular wave timmer and hook those 2 up on oppisate sides of the tank. heck the 6s are 2200gph each. i have my 6 on the side of the tank and when the wave timmer turns it on all the lps and softies with in 12" get sucked in that direction in a quick pulse :D i like watching that. ooohhh yeah they are quiet too.

Sorry it took so long to reply, my reason to go with the polario as opposed to a vortech was basically price versus flow.

I felt for 5500 gph with timing and bi-directional flow for about $80 less than a single vortech (that has max of 3000gph) was the right choice(for me).

I did find a problem with the polario that I believe was causing the clunking and vibration...The turbine propeller has a ceramic shaft running through it and is broken.

So I sent off an email and will be calling them also for a replacement part.

As for the hydor magnums, they are huge!!! I know they have great flow but man are they big:)
