Shallow modern reef tank build

Decided to do things a little different than norm with this build, should be a fun ride. Going to focus on coral growing this time. Tank is 48x24x12

80/20 aluminum stand

Sliding doors made from 1/4" foam PVC board

Biotek ceramic rock, big thanks for Scott at Aquarium Specialty for this as they no longer make it.

Eshopps RS-200 sump. Going to add an adjustable panel in the skimmer section, the water level is really too low for practical purposes.

Will be running a pair of Hydra 52HD's on some RMS mounts, still haven't decided on a sand bed or starboard or BB or what. Hoping to fill it up by the weekend!

Just a warning be careful putting screws into the Hydra mounting holes. The holes are drilled all the way through the heatsink they don't stop part way through. So if you thread a screw that's too long in it comes out the other side of the heatsink and breaks the end pucks blowing out your blues. Yes I did it....

That looks awesome!

Just be careful... that back glass looks pretty thin in the pic. I'd be worried about knocking the light and cracking the glass. But I'm nervous like that. ;)

Thanks for the heads up on that, I actually had read about that problem before and made sure the screws were just long enough:)

Thank you! It's 8mm glass, the pic is a little deceiving;)

Isn't the water just going to flow through the slots.

Exactly. The adjustment knobs/slots need to be off the side with a solid frame around the baffle cut-out.
