Shark ID help needed

I've been flamed on tons of threads so hopefully this can stay on track. I purchased this shark as a grey bamboo shark and have been told that the juvenile greys will have bands on them and appear to be brown banded bamboo sharks. So without further ado here's the pictures from today.

Thanks in advance!!

Looks like a juvenile sharkus toosmalltankus.

Haha, sorry, read your other thread, couldnt resist.

...It looks like some type of catshark...which one? I have no idea.
It is a nice specimen but looks washed out (stress).
My resident expert had a bamboo shark in his lagoon for a bit & it looked nothing like that.
What size tank is this thing in?...I would start feeding it like MAD. everything & anything it will consume nutrient wise. fish , clam , shrimp , squid ,ETC.
Lots of CLEAN water and low light for awhile.....

Dude ; you bought a SHARK.
not a clownfish or a tang ,
a SHARK that = BIG food , BIG water , BIG time...prepare

Love the comments....

The washed out look is probably due to my camera. It's much darker in person. Not sure how to adjust the stupid settings on the camera still.

It is a C. griseum, grey bamboo shark. The dorsal fin lacks the free rear tip projection seen in the brown banded.

Good luck with it.

Thanks. I knew there was some way to determine if it was a grey or brown banded. It already started to go after my ray so I took it back to the LFS. doesn't look like any sand dwellers are going to be in this tank at this point. Hasn't bothered my tangs at all though.

Looking forward to being a proud shark owner.

Thanks for all the info on this thing. I've been going crazy trying to figure out info on it. I haven't researched the sexes on the fish. Dumb question but what are you looking at for you to tell??

Google claspers. You'll be an expert. Btw from the photos it likely has some hitchhikers. Most sharks do. I start with praziquantil and chloroquine. You may want to consider it if you plan on adding another or notice worsening. They usually don't bother the sharks, but in a closed system, I always worry.

I kind of figured that's how you could tell what sex it was but didn't want to just guess..LOL

It had a remora on the shark at the LFS for 8 months. I figured that the remora would have helped with any issues of viruses or hitchhikers. Guess what I thought I knew was next to nothing on these animals.

Thanks for the suggestions and help! I might be shooting you some Pm's once in awhile if that's cool. Sounds like you've got lots of knowledge that I would love to pick at once in awhile.

Remoras hurt more than help. I do not recommend them with sharks. They can also get very aggressive and grow quickly. I'm glad to see that you didn't bring it home.

They do nothing for parasites. A cleaner wrasse can be helpful.

Last thing. I also rec Mazuri vits for longterm health. Try and go in on an order with someone here or MFK. They are costly and would expire before you could use them all.

You don't think it would try and eat the cleaner wrasses? I though about getting a few of them but was a little unsure since it was attacking the stingray. I fed it some krill earlier today just to get it a little fed but plan on going down to the asian food market tomorrow and get some squid and octopus. I guess that's what the LFS was feeding it when it was there. Do I need to soak the food in garlic like I do with my tangs?

go to MFK - I gave 5 reasons why I do not believe that this is a C. punctatum (brownbanded)

I saw that. Thank you very much for all your help. I will keep you all posted in the next few months if it changes colors or anything else.

You've been a ton of help the past few days.
