Sharp's 450g Plywood Build (finally getting closer)

Thanks kar93, I'll do that.

Here's last picture for today. Wife caught this flattering shot while I was grouting on Sunday. Dang I sweat a lot.

Outstanding. Can you post a image or 2 of the front interior of the tank? I would like to see those details please

masharp1126 I really like the ideology of plywood builds and as you stated there has been some really nice builds here at RC. However I think as users post their progress a small detail is omitted I doubt on purpose but important. That is the build details concerning the interior of the front panel where the viewable glass/acrylic will be placed. This is what I would like to see if you are willing

EBOLII, got ya. That's what I thought you wanted. Didn't get the chance to tank pictures last night, so will try again tonight.

EBOLII, hope these help.

Have the tank laying on its back right now, so had to kind of crawl inside to get them. If it's not detailed enought, let me know and I'll try to get some more this weekend when I roll it back to it's normal position.

On this pic, the left side is the top of the tank, right side the bottom. The inside is about 3 to 3.5 inches wide all the way around. On the sides and bottom you can see the 45degree strips I cut and installed for added support in the corners. Did them on all corners except the top. This then leaves a flat section approximately 1.5 to 2 inches wide for mounting the glass.

From inside the tank looking back at where the bottom and side come together. Support in all corners.

Yes thank you. So then you plan on using 3/4" thick glass? that is what 1 1/2" edge for support?

I did not realize you started the epoxy.

I'll probably be going with 1/2" glass and yes, the overlap edge is 1.5" to 2". Glass will measure 72' by 30" with approx 1 1/2" hidden due to overlap, leaving a 69" x 27" window.

Not a lot of progress lately as work has been pretty hectic the past couple of months. And seems like something going on every weekend.

On a plus note, my daughter is going to Texas Tech and have been out there twice this year for football games, and one of them was this past weekends Tech-UT game. What a game! One of the best I've seen in person in a while.

As far as the tank, still have one more side to finish epoxying. Don't have anything going on this weekend, so maybe I'll get it done this time. Working on a trade for some paint with a local guy who's got more than he needs. Going with black on the inside, and leave the outside natural with 3 or 4 coats of epoxy, depending on how much I have left.

All is good. Been making some slow progress as work has been very busy. Which is probably a good thing in this economy. I could be looking for a job.

I'll try to post some pics later today or tomorrow. Right now, I'm waiting on my dad to arrive and we are heading out to Arlington, TX (about 45 min away) to pick up the Starphire glass and a frag tank that I've bought from Glasscages. Received the Stanley tracking for my light rails yesterday. I have one more coat of epoxy to go on the inside bottom, then I'll be painting.

So glass install should happen in a couple of weeks.

Uh-oh, Dad just pulled up. I'm off to pick up the glass.

Yeah....your and Masharp's are my favorite builds, I watch the progress like a hawk....Both of these threads are a great inspiration
