I tried to stop by there yesterday (after going to SF) and the doors were locked and the store had a sign directing customers to buy there "dry goods" at another store (can't remember the name). So the question is, are they officially closed, or doing a remodel? They were putting in a lot of new tanks last time I was there, but I figure now maybe SF put them under....

From what I have been told, they are gone. I have not heard that directly from Jim or any other employess, but I did hear it from VERY good sources.

I've always had mixed feeling with them anyway. From time to time they had real nice stuff, but it would already be reserved. Then I'd ask if they could order stuff and they said NO. Sometimes they'd sell stuff out of their display and sometimes they wouldn't. If they went under they have no one to blame but themselves.

Anyway, Tom, did you still want those zoos? I never heard back from you....

I used to get alot of really nice coral from Jim at Shear Heaven, sometimes at a reduced price. When I first got into the hobby back in 01/02, they had a thriving store, but in recent years there is hardly anyone ever there. They just added alot of saltwater tanks and got rid of alot of the other pet supplies they had been selling. I think they were intending to turn the whole store over to just fish stock and supplies. I know they have been struggling financially to keep their heads above water. i have not heard anything official, but I wouldn't ne suprised if they are closing. Its a shame because other than Something Fishy, there is no other Saltwater stores in the Lehigh Valley.

Ever been to American Aquarium in Schnecksville? They had some pretty nice stuff in there the last time I stopped in. Its right on 309 between Shankweilers and LCCC

That's the place the sign on the door of Shear Heaven said to go for "DRY GOOD NEEDS". I was curious why they stated dry goods not all goods. Anyway, I was there a few years ago and wasn't impressed with their livestock selection/prices. Have they improved?

Jim

That was the first time I was in there since about two and a half years back and it was a definite improvement. They have a section now devoted to corals, whereas before they had tiny little partitions which they housed all inverts and a few corals with their live rock. Still not something fishy caliber, but a decent store.
