shipping sea grasses

I will be going to St. John in a few weeks with my family and exploring the estuaries. It would be nice to bring home some sea grasses. I was planning on taking a deep (8 inch?) block, letting it drain until moist, wrapping it in cloth and newspaper and then shipping it semi-dry, and then reestablishing it in an estuary aquarium with as little additional disturbance as posible. Would it work?

sounds good but I would place a garbage bag in the box and then put them in and close it so that would insulate and keep any water in also

Just check into the legalities of collecting the sea grass there. Much of St. John is consideried a park IIRC. If the legalities check out, just keep the sea grass damp and it will be fine for a couple of day's ;)
