I am going to try shipping out some coral next week for the first time. And would like to know if my fellow reefers might have some tips so my package will make it ok. And advice would be great. Thanks

What are you doing FedEx? Also what corals?

Yes I will be using Fedex, and i will be shipping out a mix of frags. zoas, sps, lps.

And haven't you guys Heard??? I'm Urbans arch nemesis..lol plus theres someone on here that wouldnt like me asking his partner for advice.(you know who you are)!!!!!!:spin2:

I don't get it? Pork sand witch was his partner? Is that why he ended up with all his trashy equipment? I think urban shipped via train so corals didn't get altitude sickness It's text book like

Is that why Josh's tank is so full of coral? He got all of Urbans stuff? Maybe it wasn't all garbage?
As far as shipping make sure you have an insulated box as our temp is 90 degrees and on a plane at 30,000 feet it's freezing. Make sure your bags can't leak. Maybe double bag them. Then put all the small bags in a big bag so if one leaks it won't damage the box. Some use heat packs and cold packs taped to the styro lid to help with temp changes

Good thick styro box, lined with several layers of newspaper. If using bags, I triple bag frags and other things that might poke holes in them. For frags 1/3 water and 2/3 air will be fine. For small frags, those urine specimen cups that gatorlum69 suggested are excellent...tape the lids to be sure they don't unscrew. Also through in a couple of ice packs. This time of year with current temps, I'd use 4 ice packs in a standard fish shipping flat box. Wrap the ice packs in a sheet of newspaper, keeps them from making direct contact with any specimens and over chilling anything. Also pack as late as possible to bring to FedEx as late as you can and still make it in time for overnight delivery.

I only ship toners to my customers next day. Never shipped corals and hope never will. But every fed ex office has a different next day cutoff so make sure you pick the one that ships the latest so your corals are the least amount of time in the shipper (the main places is 9:30pm). Use insulation and buy strong bags. Use ice packs for most of the us or heat packs for cold places.
