Orange bta is acting bad...
Today The rock its on was flipped upwards, (NOT SURE HOW, CAN ONLY GUESS THAT THE FEMALE MAROON DID IT, BUT NO IDEA WHY SHE WOULD) whitch dident harm the foot at all, but its foot was now exposed rather than being on the underside of the rock.

Hours later it started to shrink. Took a huge poop.... And thats it. It hasent closed its mouth in over 5 hours, nor has it expanded at all.

Strangely it has its foot V'd out. I dident think a nem split while shrunk, but unless its VERY suddenly dieing, I cant explain whats going on. Its been eatting like a champion. I dident move the rock back, I dident want to 'smoosh' its foot by accident. I figured it would crawl down a few inches and re adjust itself.

Well... Its mouth still looks AWFUL. Looking for reassurance or any ideas I guess. I havent done anything different than I always do.
I cracked the piece of pipe on my skimmer that holds the pump to the valve (coralife) so I zip tied it to make sure it wouldent fall, so the skimmer is skimming a little less than usual.. But thats it.

Salinity 1.025
calcium - 410
alk- 8.0
mag- 1260
nitrate - 5
ammonia - 0
ph - 8.2

dident bother with nitrite.
Any ideas?? Lights have been off an hour now and no change

bad, I know. see how its got its foot on both sides?

5 days past the 14 day garentee

still no change. its mouth is gaping really bad. it appears to be stretching its foot farther on the rock. it looks real real bad.

I was going to move everything to the new tank tomorrow.
In this condition i donno if it would help it or hurt it even more.

If it's not something in your tank causing this reaction, and your water's stable, it might be better to leave it alone at this point. You know how any little change can affect them, and with it already stressed about something I don't know if I would take the chance moving it until it stabilizes.

Is your maroon messing with it while it's like this? If so, moving the maroon tomorrow might give this poor nem some peace to get over whatever's upset it.

Good luck!

yeah the darn maroon was sticking her face in its mouth and pulling out speggetti strings. she has done this b4 with the green one a long time ago.

well. its 8 hrs later. it has expanded, has bubbles, and it moved and re buried its foot. its right on the sand almost. lights are still off.

I think ill be moving it today. unles its mouth still looks stressed. if so ill leave it in there by itself and move everything else

going to be a very... wet day lol

I would not mess with it. If it got flipped over, it has good reason to be ticked off. The less you mess, the better it will get in a faster time. When fully healthy again, feed it. I'm glad to hear it got better.

It's amazing what they can come back from, and how horrible they can look when they're stressed. Glad to hear he seems to be on the mend.

Unless it is causing an issue, I would leave it be for now. BTW, anemones can often remain closed for a day or so after something like that. So long as it doesn't last longer, it is usually nothing to worry about. Like I said above (and others have said), just leave it. If it is stinging something, move the other stuff.

amphipron.. oh.. today is tank moving day. ive cycled my 90 for 6 weeks, and everythings going to the new tank. thats why id nbe moving it...

Its just dandy agian, it moved a foot or so, stuck itself betwen to rocks. I donno what the issue was, but im going to proceed as planned. Ill start a new thread when the move is finished :D

Ah, ok. I just misunderstood you. Hope everything moves well. Sounds as though everything should do just fine.

My marron do pulls this every so often too. She will remove the anemone and put it on the floor and cover it with sand. This will go on for days. She managed to kill 3 of them this way, he last one I took away for a few weeks until it was healthy again.

The one that survived looked just as bad. Give it some time alone away from her and see if you can't nurse it back to health.

village.. na, the foot just got exposed. it wasent harmed at all.

aph... looks... alright!!
Ive been moving stuff for about 4 hours now. everythings in. female maroon beat the heck out of herself, shes all scraped up. both nems are alright. lil ones walking already. big one wont walk till nighttime

IM DONE MOVING!!!!!!!!!!! whooohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't wonder if BTA keepers would be better off waiting until the BTA is established and large (8"+) before adding the more bullish clowns (marrons, tomatos, etc.)... :-)

oh yeah, thats the way its supposed to be done. my marrons have a bubble tip thats about 12 inches or so, but after they found the new one they started hosting both. i cant control that lol

well, they both made the move the lil one looked horrible and unconnected itself from the rock right when it hit the new water, right in the path of the tunze so it blew around like paper in the wind for a sec till i could catch it turn the pumps off and place it down. its rooted in a nice breeze now tho. Im running to get some batteries then ill start a new thread with the pics ;) :D
