Show me pics of yo Tangs !!!!!!

LauraCline,
Yes, I love my Desjardini. He actually changes colors as well when stressed or displaying. He can go all white except for the yellow stripes. Truly amazing to see. I've never been lucky enough to have the camera around when he does it.

As with any Zebrasoma, he can be a little aggressive... but not as aggressive as a Purple tang though.

about 6 or 7 years old. 6"-7"

Copps - Your tanks are gorgeous. What size is the tank with the Regal, all the tangs, MI, etc. ??? That is what I envision having some day.

Zfunk007 - I spent some time reading the MI thread today and I was very impressed with your banter. LOL Does your shop ship out to customers ?? I live in Maine and the local shops all carry the same stuff and there are way too many leather corals and boring fish to mention. I am primarily looking for a good source of fish when I upgrade.

Beautiful vlamingi! Here's a pic I took diving in Micronesia where entertainment was provided during safety stops by vlamingis feeding on chicken wings (shown in the center) thrown from the boat:D ... Put that in your cubes Ocean Nutrition:lmao:
Does the Vlamingi grow a horn at all?

No... just a hump...

Would a tank raised one ever look anything like that? And if so, how long would it take?

A topic in itself... refer here... so as not to jack the tang pic topic...

Jackrent... my display is a 180 with total volume of system over 400 gallons... upgrading display soon...

copps and hdtvguy great tanks and tangs. copps how long have you had that idol in your tank? Looks great man. Tangs are the coolest fish ever.

The idol's been yanked after he started EATING an A. prostrata colony I have... not picking... attacking with gusto... I had him for quite a while before that started happening... It was and is a healthy colony and was not being eaten after it already was going downhill, which is common with certain angels in sps tanks...

Thanks JackRent. PM me if you want to talk about the business. I don't want to do it in the forums.

Yeah my Idol and Atlantic Blues used to be in the same tank. I had to move the Idol to my 110 when he ate just about every piece of coral in my tank!

Copps and BlueNWhite,
The single picture may be a male as mine looks similar to the others in the pic of them eating. He/she does darken at times. His/her blue lines are different than the ones in that pic and his/her face is sometimes golden in color and he/she has a small hump on the head. he/she also does not have streamers. Mine is 13+ inches long, I actually measured him/her. :D

I have seen a smaller one in another RC members tank that had the exact same color pattern as mine but had the long streamers. I wonder if that one in the single pic is another fish or from a different area?

Yeah that one is an adult male... not my pic but this one is showing a school again in Micronesia... they are food fish there and can be bought at markets...

Copps -

Any wider angle shots of your 180 ?? As long as there is a tang in the photo.

Here's one where the pumps are shut off, so everyone was freaked out, but you could see my hybrid cruising...

Thanks Copps. Almost looks like two different species of fish. As I stated, I did see a smaller one with the same coloring as mine but it had streamers where as mine dosent. Guess I have an adult female and his was still a subadult and may have been changing to a male.

Copps - is that 2 Regal Angels in your 180? I've always loved your tanks. Loved your old 65g that got TOTM way back when. And if the 180g is going to get an upgrade - I think you'll be getting it again. But the 180g is already extreme TOTM material. :)

No, it's actually a trio!:love2: I've had them for almost a full year now... no spawning yet but close too it... I met up with Rafael at MACNA who has a spawning pair, with video here... , and Frank Baensch of RCTHawaii.com at his facility on Oahu last year which inspired even more... I also go to Guam regularly on business where regals are very common and are witnessed everywhere...

More related to tangs, we need to see more mixing of pairs... Rafael at the above link has a spawning pair of purple tangs also in his system. Frank Baensch of RCT has rare Centropyge we only see in books breeding in barrels! When I upgrade I plan on attempting this, possibly with my Christmas Island black tang which is my favorite despite what my wife says... she likes the yellow which is 1/15th the price (which she doesn't know of course!:D ) Too many hohum tanks with one of this and one of that... advance the hobby and try something different!

Anyway, here's the image again showing all three regals... the black tang is in the center of the shot... it was with flash under actinics only so it's a bit weird...

When I upgrade which I hope is soon, I will gladly be the guinea pig on some Tang pairs. There is some turmoil at work and when that settles down I am all over the upgrade. I am hoping for buil-out this summer and hopefully flowing water and fish by mid - late fall.
