Show me pics of yo Tangs !!!!!!

hondadude... nice little goldrim... that species naturally hybridizes with powder blues (which mine shown above is), and achilles in Hawaii... here's a pic of an achilles/goldrim hybrid... :spin3: Pretty sweet eh? The orange in the tail is a dead giveaway! (Forgive me... it's 4:30 on a Friday at work!)

copps.
I have a pair of Naso's in my tank and would love to learn some more about them and how to possibly mate them. They have grown up together in the tank for the last 3 years or so. I have heard that they spawn while swimming up and down in the water colum which would sugest that you would need a deep tank. My tank is 3' deep but I do not think that will be deep enough. Any info or sites you could pass along would be appreicated.

Copps- sweet looking mix. When I get my house built i am gonna have a pretty large tank in it. I am hoping to create more than just a reef environment. i want to have the whole ocean in 1 tank aggressive, peaceful and the like. I want natures course to take place in there. natural enemies, natural food chain, and natural reproduction. Well thats what I hope for anyway.

Blownchevy everything I've ever seen, talked about, or read has been regarding spawning of Zebrasoma species tangs in captivity generally. This makes the most sense, as their adult sizes are small and the demand is huge in the hobby... Your nasos I would imagine not spawn in even your large system... The issue is not the spawning, but the raising of the young. For private ventures like RCThawaii.com it's got to be cost effective... He used to breed and sell captive bred flame angels but now specializes in the more high dollar Centropyge. Tangs could no doubt be done, it's just a matter of someone doing it... The kicker is that he uses wild caught plankton to feed the young, so us inlanders would have it tougher... Anyway... this is Frank Baensch and I (He's the tall German... I'm the short Italian) at his house in Hawaii overlooking Diamondhead in the background... I'll admit I had thoughts of becoming a beach bum working as his apprentice! :sad1: A fascinating guy he is and in 100 or 200 years when many of these fish species are available captive raised he'll be known as one of the pioneers:) . Keep it up Frank!

Back on track... here's an aquacultured 40 day old 1 cm yellow tang... perfect for a nano!:D

Also... many of you know scopas as the ugly Zebrasoma... but from time to time there are some wicked aberrants like this guy!

Here are my Cheveron and Regal.

JENnKerry what type of camera do you use?

An Olympus C-60 zoom 6.1 megapixel.

I gotta call you out on this because it annoys the crap out of me.

You did NOT take that pic, and you did NOT take it with an Olympus.

Give credit where credit is due.

Jen N Kerry, WHEN are you going to give proper credit for the pics that Merv (Concept3) so graciously took for you and GAVE to you?

No fighting on my thread please. Just great photos of a beautiful family of fish for all to enjoy !!! This is not a photography forum or a forum for a debate over artistic property. I am not planning on buying any photos on RC and I don't really care who took them.

Here's my favorite shot of my vlamingi that Concept3 took at the NJRC meeting at my house last July:

hehe, not in a 58 gallon! LOL.

This guy is about 14" and they grow to over 2 feet. I have a local aquarium that already accepted the donation of him when he reaches 18". I have a 300g tank, 96"L x 24"W x 30"T, and when he starts to have to do "K turns" to turn around, off to a much larger tank he goes..

It will be sad for sure, this fish REALLY has personality, and it is actually the only fish in my 300 that eats from my fingers..
