Well you must of been under a rock
Kidding, kidding, Its the Jason Fox Fox Flame. And people are having great success. I just got mine and it's encrusting and starting to see three yellow tips where as I started with one.
I've been away a while yes. Plus my last tank had few sps in it.

Hello Reefbum, I can no longer find HQi ballasts, do you know where I can find them?
BTW, have you ever considered moving to T5´s or LED´s? why or why not?

Marco, that Red Planet was in my old tank, which had Radiums running on HQI ballasts as well as T5s. With my new tank I am using 400W Radiums running on Luxcore selectable ballasts. I use the "Super Lumens" setting, which overdrives it a bit versus the normal 400W setting (you can see more about my lighting setup here: http://reefbum.com/my-setup/lighting/). It does not overdrive the bulb like a true HQI ballast but it is about as close as you can get.
My fixtures on the new tank also have T5s. Still not totally convinced about using LEDs for a SPS dominant tank, but that is not to say that they don't work. Folks have obviously had success, but at this point I am sticking with what has worked in the past.

Since 2012.
That is one of VERY few red corals I have seen under LED's only for a long period of time. Many(myself included) seem to have most reds and oranges fade over time without supplementing T5's.

Which AIs are you using? I am considering 2 hydra 52s for my 60x24x24 but can't bring myself to spend the money....looking at reefbreeders 48" photon W. It's almost 4 times the cost for the AIs so I want to make sure it's worth it before I spend that kind of money.My contribution.

How big is your tank??
I was at a LFS on vacation and they were using them for a 48" spread in 18" of water and only running them at 50%.
There is so much information about T5, LED and halides that all claim they are the best. I'll never choose my lights haha.
