Show me the Angelfish!

Dirk,
I have had excellent results with freshwater myssis shrimp and krill along with super vegi flake and spectrum pellets 3 times a week. On ocassion I also finely chop salmon and they all go nuts when that hits that water. I have found that the varierty in diet is key to good color and health. At current I have 11 angels in my three tanks respectively and am adding a 225 fo and a 225 reef that I am sure will have some more.

thanks for the info gman! having 11 angels is unbelievable and is something i would like to do some day! can you post some full tank shots of your 180 and 96?

Dirk,
I am going to have some up in a day or so. I need to host them on anohter site and transfer them here. The 50kb limit here make is hard to see any detail. I will try and have some up of all three tanks soon. Angle's, eels, hawks and tangs seem to be my weakness alonf with acro. My reef has a forest of deepwater acro.

Unbelievable!! 11 angels!!! Now i know it can be done or die trying :-). Is there a secret to getting them to get along? did you choose the order and size of each angel carefully or was it the old chuck em in and see what happens?

My Queen won't eat angel formula! and I've tried many times. I feed mine algae sheets, spectrum pellets, frozen squid, frozen krill, frozen mysis, and freeze dried mysis.

Pro,
It was the product of a lot of research, and some patience, and a truely aswsome local store here that brings in amazing livestock. I only have 3 angels in the 180 but I had some fun there as well as I have a lunada trigger, a golden puffer and a dussimari tang with them among others.

The 96 gal took more time. I made sure that I varried the size and color when I intorduced them. I tried to put twon in together at all times to level out the feeling out periord. I kept the groups diverse and if there was a potential for conflict due to same group it was with hardy but mildly aggresive fish. The only area I was nervious about was the Blueline and Goldflake together as they are in teh same group and have similar body shapes. To my amazment not ony was there not a challenge with them they actually school together at night, a very cool sight. The rockbeuty and Grey velvet might have been a challenge as well but I made sure that the Rock beauty was well established before adding the Grey velvet. I am going to go for one more angle in that tank this fall and that is a multi color as I wanted to put the pygmy in last due to its teritoral nature.

The Bellus in the reef was easy as I knew that as a swallowtail it would very likely not be a challenge with the corals and she is just a flat awesome fish both temperment and lookswise.

I am setting up a 225 f/o that will also have a grifths angel as well as two that are in the 96 now (majestic and blueface) and I am going to add a couple of more in that as well.

I am also settin up a 225 reef that I plan to put a pair of Bellus and a pair of true Japanees Swallowtails in.

I have not had a single challenge with agression and have not lost a single angel that I have added to any tank. The interaction is amazing to watch and due to a varied diet and lack of stress all of them have great color and girth.

Thanks for the interest.

Here are 3 shots of my tanks. They will give you an idea but there will be better one coming in a day or so. I have a roll of film being developed that should be much higher quality then these digital shots.

Awesome queen teog.

And also I tried feeding Angel Formula again last night.. and guess what!!! The lionfish gulped down the cube whole. So then I thawed another one and the angel bit it a few times, and then it goes under a rock, and the undulated trigger sneaks in, grabs the rest of the cube, and rushes it back to his little cave.

Awesome queen teog.

Thanks she is awesome.

What I do with my frozen cubes is, I let it thaw out then I smush it up and put in the tank. This way all fish can eat it, not just one hog.:)

hey crazylionfish....i read that you have trouble feeding your angel, Angel Formula. I know just the thing because my Majestic was the same way. My LFS recommended soaking the food in GVH Food Soaking Formula, which contains vitamins and garlic. It is the best product that i have ever used in trying to get my angelfish to eat and it only cost 8 bucks! Now my fish will eat just about everything i put in the tank! Give it a try and keep us updated :)

Sad day for me. I parted with my Bluering Angel. The fish had out grown it's confines and it was time to send it to a better home. One of my LFS took it off my hands, and I think one of the shop employees will probably take the fish home to their large system.

On a lighter note, I have never seen my Blueface so happy to have the tank all to itself.

Keep posting those pics!

Jim
