how does radium 20k 150 watt DE compare to the Radium SE 20k versions?

The 150 watter version are very bright and crisp. They are a very good 150watt option.

What is the best bulb, ballast combination for the Radium 20K? I would like to use electronic ballast f possible. Thanks!

I would run a SLS galaxy ballast with radiums if you wanted to go that route. Thats what I run on my QT tank and its a nice color.

I have the giesseman infinity with the giesseman electronic ballast, do you think the radiums will look good with that combo ballast?

Isn't the giesemann infinity a DE fixture? All bets are off when it comes to DE bulbs as Radiums are known for the SE versions. It is almost impossible to replicate a SE color/par in a DE bulb and vice versa. You kind of just have to play around and compare apples for apples.

that was my question a few lines up? i asked how the 150 watt
DE radiums compared to the 250 Watt SE version and you said they were a good option. yes the giesseman is a DE fixture so i'm still in the same boat as whether or not to try the radiums 150 watt 20k DE bulb.

OK, I just wanted to make sure. I've seen a couple nice tank with them running. I think Josh (myzislow) runs them and he gets good growth and good color. I ran them on a nano and I liked it better than the other couple bulbs that I tried.

Not as blue as the SE 250's with the ballasts I am running. I am using Icecap electronics with the 250's and ARO electronic with the 150 DE which I have over my frag tank. I am going to try a Phoenix 14K next to see if I can get the color closer to what the 250's are. I have the frags only 6 inches under the light and they still darken up compared to how they looked when harvested and compared to the mother colony. The water is the same system.

What do you think about running an icecap ballast? I just don't want it too blue. You think 250W over a 25gal tank would be ok? Also, what is SLS?

Thanks alot!!

rossco do you have any supplemental lighting on the de? when you say darken up is that good or bad? i was looking into the lighting myself and according to sanjay the aquaconnect shoud give you more blue than the radium 150 watt. see the pic below.

this kinda blew me away!

SLS= Sunlight Supply :)

I do not have any experience with the ice cap as the galaxy has proven itself in my book :)

Good luck
