Show me your 20k Radium tanks?

I had borrowed a lumenmax 3 with a 14k phoenix bulb in while I as waitingon my second lumenmax 2 to show up. And running the 2 side by side. The radium has far better color pop and is brighter than the phoenix by far. I would of never guess that But It made me happy that now I dont second guess my purchase. I Was running them both off my dual galaxy ballast.

Waiting on my canopy to show up so I can get everything mounted. I have a make **** stand to hold both the reflectors above the tank right now. Looking good so far. Far more eat than my t5's thats for sure.

thank for the info mojo. is the galaxy an electronic ballast? think i'd get the same results with my bluewave 7? i'd love to get more pop in my colors as long as i don't lose too much par in the process. don't HQI bulbs have more output than SE bulbs of the same wattage?

I wouldnt think so. I ocal reefer has this setup and he has to cut his light cycle down so he doesnt bleach out his lps on the bottom of the tank

They put out more UV assuming that's the need for the terpered glass and not so on the SE bulbls.

My phoenixs that run on M80 ballasts are more white and brighter than the ones that run on e ballasts that is more blue....

you guys kill me with those 20ks Your corals look like the fake neon ones at Walmart. It is really surreal.

Mark, do you have 4 250w Radiums on your 180?

Yep, I run 4 250 watt radiums in LA minis on two dual blue waves.

Awesome tank Mark, and definitely no shortage of light.

Thank You

well i ordered some t5 reflectors and a couple bulbs last night. That way I ll have them when my canopy shows up. I went with t5 's because well I already had a t5 ballast and endcaps. I went with the icecap reflectors for a little wider spread over the aquactinics I ran with all t5's. I picked up another ATI blue +, as I already have a new one sitting here. And a Giesmann Super actinic as well. So I can see what ones I like better. I have used the UVL super ACtinic and well mostof the other popular bulbs on the market so I thought I would try a giesmann bulb too.I hope two T5's are enough supplement. I just wont have room to mount two more. and still get te id to tilt up. My canopy has a tilt up lid and doors that open in the front.

Alos are most of you running your fans blowing in. I have purchased the fans and plan to have 4 80mm fans blowing in. I also have 120 fan I can add if need be. Thanks again for the lighting help. I havent went though lights like I have skimmers. lol

Yep, down to 5 yours of Radiums now in my 90 gallon. Still haven't decided if 5 or 6 hours is the sweet spot for my tank. I was orginally running them for 8-9 hours having a terrible time with chalices and acans on the bottom of my tank. I simply didn't have enough shaded areas for them. Since reducing the duration of the MHs growth has remained the same and colors have increased.

Yeah, 250W Radiums are HQI bulbs, which is why they look so terrible and overly monochromatic blue on most eballasts... The 400W bulb is not HQI and a very different beast...

I don't think the Radium 250w SE bulbs are HQI. I might be wrong though. I've been thinking about placing one over my 25gal nano w/ a Icecap ballast.....what do you guys think? Overkill?

Todd, so what ballast should I use with a 250w Radium 20k? It's the only light I will be using over my 25 gal nano. Thanks!!
