Keep 'em coming!!!!

Here's my 37gallon reef.."The Lions Den" (fish include a dwarf zebra lion, a radiata lion, an ornate leopard wrasse, a Christmas wrasse, a goby and a damsel)

I am surprised the lion fish have not eaten the goby.

Sweet tank!

About the goby...so am I. We had to throw him into my tank b/c we have a 4in pseudo in the 100g that was beating him up pretty bad. I worried about him b/c he spends all of his time at the bottom but my lions have shown no interest in him.

makoJ: how about a pic of your lighting and a description.

Lighting is a 150watt 10k MH, with 2 65watt actinic PC's (ripped out of an Orbit and mounted in the canopy).

I'll take a picture later. =)

Don't most goby's spend their time at the bottom? Mine does.

Yeah. The worry was b/c lions are active at night and a sleeping goby is an easy meal. I don't worry about the wrasses b/c they sleep under the sand. My lions haven't eaten a fish yet, I only feed live gut packed shrimp, and I keep them very well fed. I don't want them thinking that fish are food under any conditions (which is why I don't feeding them frozen silversides or live fish).

The goby lives under all of the leathers and rarely comes out (a good decision on his behalf...my damsel is not in his fanclub), the area is too tight for the lions to get back there.

I would not have put a goby in there but we didn't have much of a choice...it would have died in the 100g, at least this way we gave it a chance.

The lighting looks great. What are the dimensions of your 100g SPS reef?

Thanks.

The 100g: 60X18x18 (I think...it might be 60X18X20?..I can't remember)
Lights are: 2 400watt 10k MH, 4 5foot actinic VHO's.

tstone-
What sorts of rare fish do you have?...just curious, I love seeing what other people are keeping together...it gives me ideas.

This is my 24*24*18. I really need to get a sump up and running for it. I would love to have a sump and a CL circulation system. I may see what happens with my tax return....I need to make a new skimmer, too. The skimmer and return pump will probably be my next purchases. I already have an overflow box....hopefully this tank will start to come into it's own....

Right now I only have a harem of McCosker wrasse.
Here is a link to a thread with a good pic.

This is not a pic of my actual male but it is a very good likeness. These wrasses are somewhat rare.

Before my divorce I had a Griffis Angel and a harem of Pylie wrasses. They are since gone to other reefers.

I love the flashers!! When we move in a year I want a harem of them too...in addition to the ornate leopard and the christmas wrasse we already have. I want to keep all of the 'nice' wrasses which tend to be the rare ones! Gorgeous fish!

MakoJ,

Where do you get the gut packed live shrimp? I want a Radiata lion but I know they eat shrimp in the wild and I only want one if I can feed it properly.

We are lucky enough to have two LFS that carry live salt water ghost shrimp. When we get them home I float them with cyclop-eeze...you can actually see their bellies turn red as they fill up on the cyclop-eeze. After a couple hours I dump them in the tank and the frenzy begins. That way my lions get the nutritional benefits of the shrimp and of the cyclops.

You can do it with fresh water ghost shrimp too but they wont last long in your salt water tank. Call your LFS's.

Great thread, guys. I'm thinking of getting a 60gal cube myself. Would a single 250W DE light it ok, or would I need to go to 400W with 24" depth?
