fishinbuc: Thanks!

luntiz: I know, a lot of powerheads ... I hate the look, but I really needed the flow. There are 4 900's, and 1 1200. They are all on a wave timer and only 3 are on at any one time. I have so many because I am battling an algae problem and this has been the one thing that has actually shown some results. Hopefully I will be able to remove a couple when the algae problem subsides and the tank matures, but for now it's not too chaotic, and the fish seem to love "playing" in the jets.

I myself have 4 900s in my 50 gallon breeder so I can understand, just suprised that you have that many in a cube. I love that aquascaping!

36"x30"x24" 'not-so-cube'. I didn't have the room to go the extra 6". Great prices here: http://www.aquaquarium.com He has a tank cost calculator on there too.

I have a lighting question. Here's the hardware I have:
2x250w AB 10Ks running off of Icecaps
1x400w XM 20K running off a PFO
Icecap 660 (trying to decide on T5s or VHOs)

Here's what I am thinking

Here's a picture of the $265 36x30x24 tank not yet drilled

sylock -

i'm setting up a cube-ish tank that's the exact dimensions as yours. regarding the lighting, i went with just one single 400watt radium bulb. instead of a regular reflector, i bought a reflector from P1 lighting. i think it was called the deep reflector and it covers up to 3x3 square foot area with minimal deadspots.

ofcourse the reflector was 10x more expensive than a regular one but i figure if it could save me the cost of setting up more lights and electricity, it would be worth it.

i should have it up sometime next week so i'll let you know how it goes incase you want to go that route.

Does P1 have a website? I tried to google it, but was not successful. Thanks!

About to join the ranks of the cube fanatics... I just built a 36x36x22 tank...should be up and running in the next month or so.... I guess I should start taking pics now....a true euro bracing...only about a 2" lip around the entire top.... :D

Wow!!! 9 pages of cubes, I don't know how I missed this.
I'm setting up a 36" x 36" x 24" myself.
I ordered through James at Envision Acrylics and had him do a black back with external overflow box to free up more space inside the tank. I also did the eurobrace since I won't have a canopy.
Should have it plumbed and running in about a week.

I never really cared for cubes until I saw the larger ones 3'+, soo much more space in them. Kinda a pain to light though.

Myreef- Is yours Acrylic or glass? How thick is it?

Good call on the black back. That was the one thing I was unsure of ordering mine. Im so happy I did.

MRC can't wait to see some pics of the setup. Your equipment is doing wonders as always. I tried emailing you but it kept getting returned about 2weeks ago. The seq parts came in from the factory thanks

Surfy....it is acrylic....1/2" thick all 6 sides....It will have a center back overflow and a painted blue or black back....didn't want the expense of a full sheet of acrylic for one small 36x21 panel....

We water tested it yesterday/today and it had no bow at all...even with the small lip. The opening on top is 32x32.

James does phenominal work...you will be pleased....he built my 300.... :D

surfy: can you give us more info on your future cube set up? does envision acrylics have a web site? can you explain how does the external overflow works? is it a hang on back?

THX
